Conservation Legacy is a national organization dedicated to fostering conservation service in support of communities and ecosystems.

When wildfire changes a landscape, recovery takes time, teamwork, and dedicated hands.🌲

In the aftermath of the Dragon Bravo Fire, Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps crews are working alongside land managers to help restore North Canyon on the Kaibab National Forest—building erosion control structures, protecting waterways, and supporting the long-term recovery of this unique ecosystem.

It’s !

Follow along with us this week as we celebrate the incredible places, wildlife, and people that make up one of our most iconic federal partners, the National Park Service. 🤎💚

To kick things off, check out this video from Stewards Individual Placements AmeriCorps VISTA member Ashley Bodin, who shares her experience serving at Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. Ashley is just one of the many program participants serving at NPS sites across the country, helping protect these special places and connect communities to them.

And there’s even more reason to celebrate: entrance fees will be waived for U.S. citizens and residents on August 25, 2026, in honor of the National Park Service’s 110th birthday! 🎉

What happens to wood that can’t be sold after a forest thinning project? Through Wood for Life, it can become a critical source of heat for Native families across the Four Corners region (AZ, NM, CO, UT).

The Colorado Sun recently highlighted this incredible program, including the work of Southwest Conservation Corps crews who help collect and deliver firewood to tribal communities. Last year alone, Wood for Life sent roughly 2,100 cords (a measure of cut wood) from the San Juan National Forest to tribal members in the region.

We’re proud to be part of a partnership that connects healthy forests, wildfire mitigation, conservation crews, and community needs.

Nothing beats a sweaty, smiling before-and-after photo after a successful staff saw day.

A few weeks ago, ACC staff members Eleanor, Lauren, and Christian headed out to the Chief Benge Scout Trail in Scott County, Virginia, to clear a challenging section blocked by storm damage.

ACC Crew Program Manager Eleanor shared:
"We had a sweaty, humid time, but the satisfaction of opening up a completely blocked trail section was unmatched. There were several pinched bars, many fascinating storm damage bucking problems, and a very tired hike out. A good reminder of the lessons and joys to be found in the moment during the summer season!"

Please enjoy our photo dump of some of our Stewards team at a retreat in Seattle!

Since the Stewards Individual Placements team works remotely across the country, getting everyone together in person is always a highlight. The retreat gave staff the chance to connect face-to-face, visit Individual Placements serving in the Seattle area, explore the city, and spend quality time with coworkers they usually only see on a screen.

We loved seeing this incredible team enjoying hikes, getting creative with tie-dye, sharing lots of laughs, and making memories together!

Across Conservation Legacy, our crews and Individual Placement participants have the privilege of learning from rangers and agency staff who do so much more than steward our public lands.

Today, on , we celebrate the dedicated park rangers, land managers, and public lands professionals who protect the places we all cherish.

They serve as mentors, teachers, leaders, and role models, sharing their knowledge, encouraging growth, and helping the next generation of conservationists find their place in this work.

To every ranger and agency partner who has invested in our members and our mission: thank you. Your dedication inspires us every day.

For , we're highlighting the members who serve as Individual Placements (IPs) and the unique role they play in conservation.

Unlike crews, where members complete projects as a team, IPs serve in specialized positions with our project partners. The Individual Placement model gives young people the opportunity to build workforce development skills, and make meaningful contributions to communities and ecosystem.
