🌾🐾 FOXTAIL SEASON IS HERE — PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE! 🐾🌾

They may look harmless, but foxtails can be extremely dangerous for dogs. These barbed grass seed heads are designed to move in one direction—into the body—and they do not work their way back out on their own.

⚠️ Foxtails can:
• Become lodged between paw pads
• Enter the ears, eyes, or nose
• Embed in the skin and cause painful infections
• Be inhaled into the lungs
• Migrate through tissue, causing serious medical complications
• Require emergency veterinary treatment

🐕 Dogs with long coats, feathered ears, and active outdoor lifestyles are especially at risk.

After every walk, hike, or play session, take a few minutes to check your dog's:
👂 Ears
👃 Nose
👀 Eyes
🐾 Between the toes and paw pads
🐕 Underbelly and armpits
🦴 Coat and tail area

🚨 If your dog suddenly starts sneezing, shaking their head, limping, licking a paw excessively, or develops swelling, seek veterinary care right away.

A quick inspection today could prevent a painful and costly emergency tomorrow.

🐾💙 That’s a Wrap, Alamosa! 💙🐾
This marks the end of our monthly visit with our incredible partners at Humane Colorado in Alamosa.
We truly value this partnership and the opportunity to work together at the San Luis Valley Animal Center to serve this community. Helping families access spay and neuter care for their pets is what it’s all about — and we’re so grateful to be part of that impact. 🐶🐱
Thank you to everyone who trusted us with their pets this week. We’ll see you next time! 💪🐾

🐾✨ Day One — Done! ✨🐾
We wrapped up our first day of clinic here in Alamosa, and we’re feeling so grateful to be back in this amazing community. 💙
Humane Colorado has created such a wonderful space at the San Luis Valley Animal Center — a place that not only serves the community, but truly cares for every animal that comes through its doors.
While we’re here providing spay/neuter and vaccines for community pets, we also get the bonus of meeting some pretty adorable shelter animals. 🐶🐱 And trust us… there are some incredible personalities just waiting for their chance.
If you’re in the area and thinking about adding to your family, your new best friend might be right here waiting for you. 🐾

🐾 FRAS + D-SNiP: Making a Difference 🐾

Each month, D-SNiP teams up with FRAS to provide public spay/neuter clinics for pets in the Farmington region. Together, we're helping families access affordable veterinary care while working to reduce pet overpopulation—one pet at a time.
These clinics make a real difference for the community, and we're proud to partner with FRAS to bring these essential services to pet owners who need them most.
Thank you to Farmington Regional Animal Shelter, the pet owners who trust us with their beloved companions, and everyone who supports this important work. We look forward to seeing more wagging tails and happy faces at next month's clinic! ❤️🐾

June 4 is International Hug Your Cat Day… but around here, we hug cats every day! 🐱💕
June is also Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and Adopt-a-Cat Month — a great reminder of just how special cats are and how many wonderful felines are waiting for loving homes in shelters and rescues everywhere.

At D-SNiP, we’re lucky to meet so many amazing cats who come through our clinic for spay/neuter care. From kittens to senior sweethearts, every cat gets a little extra love from our crew. Some are shy, some are sassy, and some are total cuddle bugs — but we adore them all.

Today, give your cat an extra hug from all of us at D-SNiP… and if you’ve been thinking about adopting, this month is the perfect time to welcome a shelter kitty into your family. 🩵🐾
Please visit Cat Care Durango and Durango Animal Connection to see some pawsome cats looking for forever homes!

🌈🐾 Pride Month is Here! 🐾🌈
This June, we celebrate love, acceptance, and the many ways that people make our communities stronger. At D-SNiP, we believe compassion has no boundaries. Every person deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, and every pet deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, happy life.
While our mission is focused on reducing pet overpopulation through affordable spay and neuter services, our work is ultimately about caring for our community—both two-legged and four-legged alike. ❤️
This Pride Month, we celebrate the families we serve, the community who support us, and the diversity that makes our community vibrant and welcoming.
No matter who you are, who you love, or where your journey has taken you, we are grateful you're part of our community.
🌈 Here's to a month of love, compassion, and pride.

🐱 Tiny paws are arriving every month of the year now — not just in spring.
“Kitten season” has become a year-round reality, and rescues, shelters, and clinics continue to see litters in every season. While kittens are adorable, the number of homeless cats and unwanted litters continues to grow.
Spaying and neutering saves lives, prevents suffering, and helps keep families and communities from becoming overwhelmed with more kittens than there are homes.
Every surgery makes a difference. Every prevented litter matters. 💛

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave so much in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙
As we reflect today, we’re also reminded of the comfort and unconditional love our pets bring into our lives. Through life’s hardest moments and happiest days, they stand beside us with loyalty, companionship, and endless devotion.
At D-SNiP, we are grateful for the healing connection between people and animals — a bond built on love, trust, and compassion. Today we honor the heroes we have lost, while also cherishing the pets who bring comfort, hope, and joy to so many families.
Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful Memorial Day. 🐾
