Today, the Women’s Resource Center is closed in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

We honor the Indigenous peoples of this region, whose ancestral homelands include the land where we live and work. We recognize their histories, their resilience, and the leadership of Indigenous women who have carried their communities forward for generations.

Their example reminds us that no one walks alone, and that strength is built together, one step at a time. It is a lesson that is shaping the path ahead for WRC.

We invite you to support Indigenous-led work in our community, today and throughout the year. Our doors reopen Tuesday, October 13.

Thank you to The Durango Herald and TylerBrown for taking the time to learn about where the Women's Resource Center is headed.

This spring, we held nearly 100 conversations with neighbors, partners, and nonprofits across La Plata County. What we heard shaped our new Empowerment Pathway, which supports women from stability to long-term financial independence, with mental health and wellbeing woven throughout.

"I personally have a deep commitment to both transparency and impact." Kathleen Jones, Executive Director

We are grateful to every volunteer who has returned and every new face who has joined us. Read the full story here: https://www.durangoherald.com/articles/news/womens-resource-center-in-durango-charts-new-course-after-turbulent-year/

WRC is incredibly proud to be a recipient of an LPEA Round Up Foundation grant! Thank you, LPEA!

For 30 years, LPEA members have rounded up their monthly electric bills to the next dollar, turning small change into more than $2.5 million for local nonprofits. The more members who participate, the more grant dollars are available to support organizations like ours and projects throughout our community.

If you’re an LPEA member, you can help grow that impact by signing up for Round Up. It costs less than $1 a month, but together it makes a big difference. Sign up: lpea.coop/round-your-lpea-bill

A lot can happen behind the scenes.

Since March, WRC has been rebuilding and strengthening the systems, partnerships, programs, and infrastructure that support our mission.

This is what that progress looks like.

The 34th Annual Toy Run Before Christmas presented by Rider Justice is about so much more than one day — it’s about supporting children and families throughout our community. ❤️

Every toy donated, every dollar raised, every auction bid, and every person who joins us helps make it possible to support incredible local organizations:
• Toys for Tots of La Plata County
• Volunteers of America – Durango
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado
• Boys & Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe
• Mercy Health Foundation Pediatric Oncology Unit
• Women’s Resource Center of Durango

When you show up for the Toy Run, this is who you’re showing up for.

Join us Sunday, October 4 at Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers from 12-3:30PM and help us make a difference for children and families across the Four Corners.
