Thank you El Rancho Tavern for hosting us- cake walk, fishing game, and all the other silliness.

Beware the Ides of March!

In 44 BC, Julius Caesar was assassinated by Brutus, Cassius, and up to 60 conspirators during a Senate meeting. The day was forever immortalized by Shakespeare’s play, Julius Caesar, and is remembered today as a day of significant betrayal, doom, and political shift in ancient history. Might today give you some inspiration for ?

Over 6,600 people opted to use free transit to get to and from events, with more than 360 of those for the Friday parade and over 375 on Friday and Saturday nights using DuranGo! buses. Since 2019, we’ve seen 29,300 people use the free bus program.

Did you get to sample this year’s official Snowdown cocktail? This golden beauty was crafted by Abigail Feldman from The Roost and beat out the other delicious drinks at the Bartender Competition (one of the oldest Snowdown events!).

Think you have what it takes to win next year’s competition? Time to get mixing, shaking, and sampling!

Right before began, we awarded our Business and Individual Spirit of Snowdown Awards. This year, we selected Durango Public Library and Mandy McCullough.

Durango Public Library hosts numerous events throughout Snowdown each year, all of which are free. Whether you’re a preschooler, teenager, adult, or somewhere in between, they have a fun, on theme event for you to attend. We also know many folks stopped by to brush up on their Colorado history, browsing the shelves or the many online resources the library has at its fingertips.

Mandy McCullough has been a volunteer with Snowdown for years. From volunteering her time to the Writing Team (she spent countless hours on the schedule!) to most recently becoming one of our Coordinators who makes the whole event happen, Mandy and Snowdown are quite synonymous. When not working on events, you’d find her attending and participating in them throughout town, every day, all in costume with a smile on her face. Mandy recently moved and was unable to accept her award in-person, so we hope she’ll be able to come back and visit next year.

Please congratulate our award winners as well as every business, organization, staff member, host, and volunteer who makes Snowdown possible. We truly have the best community out there.

We want to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to everyone who makes Snowdown happen, especially our volunteers. You are the backbone that makes the festivities happen year after year. From selling tickets at the Chili Cook-Off, to setting up and taking down barricades, to proofing the schedule, to running all over town distributing materials, and beyond, thank you!
