Volunteers from The College of St. Scholastica (CSS) joined community members from UMD, Essentia Health, and Udac for a Community Day of Service at the 4th Street Community Garden. Working side-by-side, participants rolled up their sleeves to help clean up and beautify the garden, demonstrating the power of collaboration and community engagement. The event not only enhanced a valuable neighborhood resource but also provided an opportunity for people from different organizations to connect, build relationships, and make a positive impact together. Their collective efforts reflected a shared commitment to creating a more vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive community.

2026 Candidate Forums

The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce and the Duluth News Tribune are hosting the 2026 Candidate Forums on September 28 and 29 from 5-8:15 pm at the Garden Event Center. These forums will provide a timely opportunity to meet the candidates running for state and local offices this election season.

The 2026 Candidate Forums are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Walk-in's welcome. Complimentary parking is available in the lot behind The Garden if you mention the event.

The forums will also be video recorded by the Duluth News Tribune and made available for viewing later, at no cost, at duluthnewstribune.com.

*Our candidate forums are structured around invitations to the nominees of the two major political parties. This has been our longstanding format and is intended to keep the program manageable within the time and logistical constraints of the event while providing voters with an opportunity to hear from the major-party candidates.

Ben, Paul, David and Barb are teaming up with the talented artists at Zeitgeist to explore creativity through the Transit Stories Zine Project! Inspired by People We Meet on the Bus, a community storytelling project from Indianapolis, participants are creating a variety of art forms that capture the experiences, connections, and observations that happen while using public transportation.

Through drawing, painting, collage, writing, and other creative mediums, they are sharing their unique perspectives and helping tell the story of our community—one bus ride at a time. Every piece of artwork reflects the people, places, and moments that make public transit an important part of daily life.

A huge thank you to Zeitgeist for partnering with us to provide this meaningful artistic experience and for helping amplify the voices and talents of the people we serve.
