By working with trusted community partners like our team at Brightwater, Members Cooperative Credit Union is expanding access to mental health support and helping ensure more people can find the care and resources they need within our communities.

Members presented Brightwater Health with a $100,000 donation to help strengthen access to essential mental health services across the Northland as part of their Project Horizon initiative.

ANNOUNCING OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP WITH MEMBERS COOPERATIVE CREDIT UNION

Just last month, Members Cooperative Credit Union announced Project Horizon - a $1,000,000 investment! Members is expanding how they support our Northland communities by focusing on something just as important as financial stability — mental wellbeing.

Their funding will support partnerships, programs, volunteer efforts, and resources that expand access to mental wellbeing and help Northland communities grow healthier and more connected for years to come – all through Project Horizon.

Brightwater Health is the first to receive a $100,000.00 commitment to our mission and walk-in care services. This unbelievable donation has humbled us greatly and will do so much for community mental health through our Team.

“Member’s commitment through Project Horizon will change the landscape of the Northland’s mental health in supporting organizations like ours”, stated Benjamin Hatfield, Chief Executive Officer of Brightwater Health. “Brightwater has a great responsibility to our community as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), we simply couldn’t provide care to all without incredible partners like them.”

"I'm doing it again...I'm running Grandma's Full Marathon. That's 26.2 miles of pure amazing.

I get the honor of running it to raise money for Brightwater Health, where I have been employed for 13 years. We are a community mental health agency that has been around for over 84 years and serves over 7,000 people a year. Most all have struggled with their own mental health or has known someone that has".

Meet our Charity Runner, Madison -

"I’ve always been active and loved fitness, but I wanted to challenge myself, try something completely new, and work toward a goal that felt big and meaningful. Completing a half marathon had been on my bucket list for a while, so I figured why not go big?

This will be my first ever race weekend, and I’ll be taking on both a 5K and a half marathon at Grandma’s Marathon. What started as a spontaneous decision has turned into something much bigger. Through this journey, I’ve truly fallen in love with running and have started feeling more confident in myself and what I’m capable of.

Being able to do this while raising money for mental health support through Brightwater Health makes it even more meaningful. Mental health advocacy is something I care deeply about, and I’m grateful to support a cause that helps individuals and families access the care they need."

For me, running has become more than just physical exercise—it’s a way to care for my own mental health. Each mile helps me find balance, clarity, and a sense of peace. It’s where I process life’s challenges and release what weighs me down.

By running for Brightwater Health, I hope to raise awareness and support for the vital mental health services that help individuals and families heal, grow, and thrive. Every step I take is for those who are on their own journey toward mental wellness—because no one should have to run that race alone."
