LPBG Business highlight: Free Air Life Co.!
Free Air Life Co. was inspired and created by the concept of "Friluftsliv”, a Scandinavian philosophy that translates to "free air life" meaning a lifestyle based on experiences of the freedom in nature and the spiritual connectedness with the outdoors. They tell this story through the clothing and accessories you can find within their beautiful shop!
They offer a large selection of Women’s, Men’s, & Unisex clothing, accessories, and much more that stay true to their values: celebrating nature and/or our city, and having a mission that gives back to the outdoors or being made sustainably. Thanks to the brands they carry they are responsible for planting thousands of trees and removing over 1,000 pounds of litter in Duluth, among other efforts. They give back however they are able, supporting organizations like Chester Bowl, Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores - COGGS, and others!
Free Air Life Co. was born right here in Lincoln Park, originally opening at the end of December 2019 located on 20th Ave W until 2023. They then closed the physical location for 18 months operating through their e-commerce site until re-opening under new ownership in January 2025. They paused operations while the space on 27th Ave W was being redesigned and built out, and are now located at 2631 W Superior St inside the Zenith Basecamp building.
While discussing operating in the neighborhood, Sarah (photo 1) detailed: “My favorite part of being in the Lincoln Park neighborhood is the community. Between the businesses and the neighbors we met and visited with regularly we truly believe Lincoln Park is one of the greatest neighborhoods in Duluth in terms of art, culture, history, music, and more. The walkability to the Superior Hiking Trail, dozens of restaurants, shops, and lodging reminds me of other cities I've traveled to, which is one of the greatest reasons I loved traveling there.”
If you consider yourself an outdoorsy person/travel lover who hasn’t stopped by their shop yet, you are seriously missing out! Their care and passion for what they do is very apparent and appreciated, make sure to stop by and say hi inside the Zenith Basecamp building!
