The NFA offers its members marketing assistance to help sell more firewood by attracting new business and retaining current customers.
The National Firewood Association (NFA) is the voice of the industry surrounding America's own sustainable, environmentally responsible heating fuel source -- Firewood. We offer our members help with websites, social media, free online advertising, and more traditional advertising methods. We follow trends by research and talking with people at every level of the Firewood Industry, from the “two s
aws and a splitter” guys all the way up to commercial producers of bundled firewood for urban distribution.

I am not a bit impressed by the picture Quora chose for this topic. Shame on them.
Scott Salveson's answer: The primary advantage is that it works in situations no other fuel does. Extended power outage, no problem — you keep warm, can cook food, and boil water. Essential requirements for long-term survival. Absent a crisis, it’s a local fuel source. No long-distance transport...

Australians choked through a smoke-ridden summer during the bushfire crisis. But many of us are unaware of the silent damage indoor wood fire heaters are doing to our health.

Smoke pouring out of a chimney should be equated to a huge sign above your house that says "I'm a du***ss."
Wood smoke is unburned fuel -- wasted heat. It is the equivalent of a car dribbling gasoline out of the tailpipe. An pleasant and unnecessary waste of natural resources that pollutes our environment.
Think green - burn clean!
By Andru McCracken Valemount Village Council has asked staff to draft a clean air bylaw at the request of the Clean Air Task Force. It’s a good step, and just one in a suite of actions that could h…

Many people have a hard time believing that a wood-fire can be clean.

The National Firewood Association was founded in 2012 to promote and protect the practice of burning wood in the U.S.
The most important aspect of firewood often goes unspoken -- the fact that it is the most reliable and attainable fuel source on earth. Plenty of people are talking about how to stop climate change. We’re talking about how to survive the power outages, infrastructure failures and service interruptions that are already happening due to extreme weather events.
Firewood is not a viable fuel for densely-populated urban centers -- but it is the best choice in renewable fuels for millions of American homes and businesses. It is locally sourced, “organically” grown, and minimally refined. Revenue generated from trade stays in the area. It provides jobs for thousands in economically depressed rural communities.
If there is a downside to firewood it is that, as a nation, we are not very good at using it. A clean fire doesn’t smoke or smell. Wood smoke pollution wouldn’t be an issue if so many people didn’t do such a poor job burning it, and the firewood industry itself is as much to blame as the consumer.
The good news is that -- as many of you reading this know -- it doesn’t take much to do it right. A little education goes a long way. The goal of the NFA is to get wood burners, consumers, and firewood producers/vendors all on the same page.
We have a list of demands.
That everyone have access to properly seasoned or kiln-dried firewood.
That everyone who sells and burns wood be able to easily identify dry wood.
That our members seek and share knowledge of basic wood burning principles.
That we reach out and help those with smoking, stinky wood stoves solve their problem.
That it is understood all wood smoke is wasted fuel, wasted heat, wasted money.
