‼️31 animals have come through our doors so far this week. These are just 2 of those stories:
Earlier this week we picked up a mom and her 7 puppies as they were living in the back of a truck in downtown Duluth. We’re so glad these people reached out and asked for our help, as they needed immediate assistance and had nowhere else to turn. Let’s also make one thing clear…these animals were being WELL cared for and loved. It takes a lot of courage to realize you sometimes need more resources than you can currently offer. Intake costs for this case alone are close to $900, and we would never ask that of people in this type of situation.
Today, a good samartin brought in 4 dogs they found on the side of the road eating trash. There's been whisperings online people know who these dogs belong to, so please reach out if you have information.
These dogs were not from our service area, but after taking a look at them, they all have scaring consistent with fighting. One in particular had multiple open wounds. While this will also cost us over $500 today, it's really hard to turn away injured animals once they are already at your door.
These 4 dogs technically have no where else to go due to lack of animal control outlets in our surrounding area. This is a GREAT reason you could consider attending the 2nd annual Seasons of Love fundraiser for Carlton County Animal Rescue happening tomorrow evening.
Carlton County has gone without a physical space to care for stray animals for far too long. The citizens of Carlton County and the animals there deserve to be recognized. Please speak up and talk to your city officials. Funding towards animal welfare efforts in Carlton County needs to be made a priority again, especially when there are people ready and willing to try and make it happen.
All of that being said, we're drowning in animals and the costs associated with caring for them. If you're able to donate anything towards the 31 furry friends who have come through our doors this week, it would be so appreciated. If you can share our animals online to expand their reach and encourage those looking to adopt to pay us a visit, it would mean the world to the 30 dogs and cats who are ready to walk out the door today...some of which have been waiting over 6 months to find a family.
Thank you ❤️🐾
