June is Men’s Health Month, and throughout this month we’re focusing on an important part of health that often goes unspoken for men, mental health.

The experiences boys have during adolescence can shape their emotional well-being, relationships, confidence, and overall health as they grow into adulthood. Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and early support can make a meaningful difference. By creating space for open conversations, we can help boys grow into emotionally healthy, resilient men.

Youth voices matter. 🗣️✨

Teen HYPE youth recently had the opportunity to participate in the YDRC Rising in Community: Care That Holds, Systems That Last Summit, where they served on a youth panel and shared their perspectives on the challenges, opportunities, and resources that impact young people in Detroit.

In addition to our youth participating on the panel, Teen HYPE was grateful to serve as the Ecosystem Partner and helped to support wellness experiences and the sharing of resources with more than 100 youth-serving providers that day.

From discussing what makes programs meaningful to sharing ideas for the future of youth development, our young leaders showed the power of authentic youth voice and lived experience.

Thank you to everyone who created space for our youth to be heard, valued, and included in these important conversations. 💙

Success isn't about never failing, it's about being brave enough to try. Every achievement starts with a risk, a first step, and the courage to believe in yourself. We encourage you to embrace new opportunities and challenges and discover what you're capable of. You can do anything you put your mind to!

As Youth Adolescent Health Month comes to a close, one message remains clear: youth voices matter. When young people are included in conversations about their health and well-being, systems become more supportive, inclusive, and effective for everyone. Let’s continue making space for youth leadership beyond this month.

Full circle moment when Ms. Red is out enjoying Detroit’s food scene at Sunda New Asian and sees one of our alum working as a chef. Awesome to see our alumni thriving and satisfying pallets through the city and beyond. Go support this restaurant and say hi!

We hope you had a restful long weekend! We spent part of our time hanging out with the great folks at WDIV Local 4 / ClickOnDetroit. Our own Myriha Burton was talking all things Detroit Nonprofit Games and community impact.

Thank you to Shawnte Passmore and Nick Monacelli for the feature and conversation. We’re grateful to share the work we’re doing to help cultivate wellness practices within the nonprofit community and create spaces for connection, care, and restoration.

Sign up now for a great day of fun!

For those working at nonprofits to avoid burnout, a chance for a recess, interview with Myriha Burton Instructor at Teen Hype.

Teen HYPE is honored to be recognized as the Community Stakeholder of the Year. The award will be presented during Church of the Messiah Detroit and B.L.V.D. Harambee annual Silence the Violence rally and march on June 6.

This is a powerful event dedicated to uniting the community against gun violence and advocating for safer futures for our children. We are so grateful to be recognized as a beacon of change in the community.
