Every year for my birthday, my gift is GIVING BACK — to my community, my neighborhoods, our youth, and families. 🙏🏾

A car is more than transportation. It can mean getting to work, getting the kids to school, making appointments, and opening doors to new opportunities.

This is how I celebrate. Impact over presents. Purpose over celebration. ❤️

Our young people got hands-on during our Barbering Workshop, learning not only how to cut hair, but what it takes to turn barbering into a business. From learning cutting techniques and practicing their skills to understanding the business side of the industry, our students got a look at how a talent can become a career. They didn’t just learn how to give haircuts, they received FREE HAIRCUTS too! 🔥💈We’re giving our youth opportunities to learn skills, explore careers, discover their talents, and see what’s possible when they turn their passion into purpose. A huge thank you to CASH & Marvin Peete Discover Works, Ballmer Group, & United Way for SE Michigan for believing in our mission to pour into the next generation and create opportunities for Detroit youth 🙏🏽

Meet Madison❤️ Throughout our summer program, this young lady showed us what it truly means to embrace every opportunity. Despite using a wheelchair, she never allowed it to define what she could or couldn’t do. She participated in as many activities as she could, challenged herself, learned new skills, and most importantly, found a space where she felt welcomed, comfortable, and supported. Hearing her share how comfortable she felt in our program and how much she learned means everything to us. Every young person deserves to feel included. Every young person deserves the opportunity to discover what they’re capable of. And every young person deserves a space where they can challenge themselves, have fun, learn, and simply be themselves. We’re incredibly proud of her and grateful that we could be part of this moment 😎 Thank you Discover Works, Ballmer Group, & United Way for SE Michigan for believing in our mission and helping us pour into the next generation ❤️

We took our students on an unforgettable field trip to TreeRunner, where they stepped outside of their comfort zones and challenged themselves through ziplining, climbing, and navigating through nature 😎🌳 For some of our young people, being high above the ground was a real fear, but they pushed through it! 💪🏽 Experiences like this remind our young people that they are capable of doing hard things. We’re proud of every student who took that first step, climbed a little higher, and refused to let fear stop them. These are life skills all entrepreneurs need 🙏🏽

🍽️😎 Through our Culinary Arts Workshop, Detroit youth are getting hands-on experience in the kitchen while learning valuable skills they can carry with them beyond the program. From preparing meals and learning kitchen techniques to understanding how their culinary skills can turn into a business, our young people are getting a taste of what it takes to turn a passion into an opportunity. 🛼🎉 Hard work deserves to be celebrated! After weeks of showing up, putting in the effort, and staying committed throughout our summer program, we surprised our young people with a skating field trip as a reward for all they’ve accomplished. This was an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen friendships, and create memories they’ll never forget. Teamwork, resilience, and trying something new are all part of the journey, and we’re proud of every student for embracing the experience 😎

🚗🔧 Our young people are getting hands-on experience in our Car Maintenance Workshop, learning practical skills they’ll carry with them for years to come. From changing a tire, giving a jump start, swapping a battery, and safely towing a vehicle to understanding basic vehicle maintenance, they’re building confidence and preparing for real-life situations. We’re proud to expose our youth to opportunities that prepare them for everyday life while introducing potential career pathways in the automotive industry 😎 A huge thank you to Jonathan Farley | Access Point To Stability Discover Works, Ballmer Group, and United Way for SE Michigan for believing in our mission and investing in the next generation. Thank you to all of our parents and youth for your consistency, commitment, and dedication throughout our Entrepreneur in Me program. 💅🏽✨From hair styling, braiding, lashes, nails, eyebrows, and wig making to so much more, they’re gaining hands-on skills while building confidence and creativity. They’re learning how to pamper and care for themselves while also discovering how to turn these talents into real services and entrepreneurship opportunities for the future.
