I decided to visit Breadless for early dinner. The experience was rooted in community and Blackness. From the three teenaged girls standing out front waiting on the bus, who showed me where the front door was (I was on sidewalk on Larned looking for the door), to the patrons eating on the patio enjoying the weather and each others company, to the patrons inside who, along with me, had friendly chit chat as if we were old friends from another lifetime, to the front of house staff (I wish I knew her name but today is 03/20/26 and I was there around 4:00pm. A beautiful spirit brown skin queen), to the circle of conversation of three people that was randomly taking place in the parking lot as I left. This is Community that is intentional in serving the Community delicious AND healthy options in a clean, friendly, safe, and accommodating environment. This….is Detroit. We need to continue to support these type of businesses that value US. That value EACH OTHER. Follow me…to Breadless.
