Meet our new TYCCA Director, Eugene E. Jones!

Eugene is jumping right into his new role with action! With more than a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, workforce development, community partnerships, and participant-centered programming, he brings a strong background in building programs that connect people to meaningful opportunities and resources.

And what better way to kick things off than with our TYC Tailgate!

Eugene led our tailgate-themed The Youth Connection Career Academies (TYCCA) Orientation, setting the tone for the year ahead while introducing himself to the youth, families, and supporters who make TYCCA programming possible.

We’re so happy to officially welcome Eugene to The Youth Connection family and excited to see the vision, leadership, and new direction he brings to our capstone programs. 💙

Welcome to TYC, Eugene!

This past Saturday, our current The Youth Connection Career Academies (TYCCA) youth had the amazing opportunity to roll up their sleeves and give back! 🌱💚

Our youth joined the Black Legacy Advancement Coalition to help beautify the garden at the Estella Boyd Home for Women, a transitional home for young women in Detroit that provides mentorship, guidance, community, and holistic support.

Experiences like this give our youth the chance to serve their community, work together, and see firsthand the impact they can make right here in Detroit.

Watch our TYCCA youth in action!

We are beyond grateful for the role Diversified Members Credit Union continues to play as a community advocate for The Youth Connection’s programming.

Thank you to the entire team for your continued impact and commitment to strengthen our mission to connect youth to a brighter future.

Thank you to our team and members for helping us raise $1,850 for our Charity of the Quarter, The Youth Connection!

This amazing organization exposes youth to new opportunities to grow, learn and serve their communities that encourage them to see beyond their neighborhoods.

Today, we remember the lives behind the numbers.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we honor those whose lives were lost to overdose and stand with the families, friends, and communities who continue to carry their memory.

The young people pictured are part of the DEA Faces of Fentanyl Memorial Exhibit. Each face represents a life, a story, a family, and a future that mattered.

At The Youth Connection and Love Detroit Prevention Coalition, we believe remembrance must be met with action. Swipe to learn how you can be prepared to help save a life.

Overdose does not discriminate. Prevention starts with all of us.

Tomorrow will be the Second week of school, DPSCD!

We know starting back to school can be daunting, so we gathered some of TYC’s recent graduates to give you their advice on navigating the hallways, making the most of your high school experience, and preparing for what comes next.

This week Jaden Willis incoming Freshman at Michigan State University C/O 2026 MLK Highschool grad is giving his tips to our high schoolers on setting the tone for your Highschool career.

Tune in every week for a fresh perspective on everything from friendships and academics to getting involved, planning for your future, and surviving those moments nobody warns you about.

Consider this your TYC DECLASSIFIED School Survival Guide advice from students who’ve been there, done that, and made it to graduation.

To our parents and alumni, What’s your fondest memory from high school? Drop it in the comments!

Last month, we had the opportunity to celebrate a few of our recent graduates and recognize all the hard work that brought them to this moment! 🎓

We were so happy to have our graduates and their families join us as we celebrated their accomplishments and the exciting journey ahead. While one chapter may be closing, The Youth Connection is proud to continue supporting our students as they step into the next phase of their lives.

And we’re not done celebrating! Stay tuned as we take a deeper look into our students’ experiences, their journeys, what they’ve learned along the way, and what’s next for them.

Congratulations, graduates we can’t wait to see where life takes you! 💙
