CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF THE MINNEAPOLIS SOUND WITH MR. HAYES AND FRIENDS

On October 27, Morris Hayes, Prince’s longest-serving band member and music director, will come to Detroit for a special evening at the Bonstelle Playhouse.

The evening is a celebration of some of the most iconic songs marking Hayes’ musical journey with Prince and other architects of the Minneapolis Sound.

Joining Hayes are original New Power Generation rapper Tony Mosley and powerhouse vocalist MacKenzie, who began touring with the reunited New Power Generation in 2018.

And for Crescendo Detroit, this night is especially meaningful.
The evening begins with a one-of-a-kind opening performance bringing Crescendo Detroit students and faculty to the stage alongside Morris Hayes and acclaimed Detroit artists Gayelynn McKinney, Maurice “Piranhahead” Herd and Raine Baker.

VIP guests can continue the celebration at an exclusive After-Show Experience with Morris Hayes, featuring a Meet & Greet and more still to be revealed.

10 years ago today, the world lost someone whose impact went far beyond the music.

As the world honors Prince and the legacy he left behind, we felt it was only fitting to make this announcement today.

Prince generously, often anonymously, invested in the next generation, creating opportunities for young people to thrive. It’s a mission we share at Crescendo Detroit.

We’re excited to partner with Morris Hayes, Prince’s Music Director and longest-serving band member, who will be working with our students this summer and bringing something special to Detroit.
