Join us for a movie screening of Black Ice: The Rhythm!

Experience the magic of this captivating film at the William V. Banks Broadcast Museum & Media Center. The WGPR Historical Society invites you to a fundraiser featuring the Detroit-based Motion picture “Black Ice: The Rhythm” on September 20th at 5:00 pm at the William V. Banks Broadcast Museum and Media Center, 3146 E. Jefferson.

Gerald McBride, known for his popular radio show “Battle of the Ole School,” and former WGPR radio and TV62 personality, wrote, directed, and produced Black Ice: The Rhythm.

This special screening of this inspirational movie follows the life of a talented Black hockey player who is wrongfully convicted and sent to prison. A condition of his release from prison, he must teach an undisciplined group of young black teens to play hockey at a Detroit rec center. The movie portrays the challenges faced by the black hockey team as they navigate racism, perseverance, romance, and heartbreak within the competitive world of hockey. You will love this story!

Meet Gerald McBride as he discusses his film following the screening!
