Why are thousands of bees hanging outside the hive? 🐝

It’s called bearding, and while it can look a little alarming, it’s often completely normal.

Bees may beard when a colony is preparing to swarm, but on hot days, they can also gather outside to help keep the inside of the hive cooler. Think of it as the bees hanging out on the front porch while the colony works to regulate the temperature inside.

Pretty incredible for a bunch of tiny insects.
