Hello FB followers!

Our Prospective Chief Petty Officers (PCPO) are working through the traditional Chiefs Call to Initiation that the prepares our Coast Guards newest Chiefs for the different obstacles of leadership they will inevitably face in the future as leaders. Part of this process is to raise money for the local Chief Petty Officers Association: Detroit Area Chapter which helps members in the Armed Forces and their families facing hard times or needing some help financially. Each purchase of these items will go directly towards the association!

Today several of us gathered as a Chief’s Mess to begin the Spring 2026 Chiefs Call to Initiation. This is a time honored tradition that is voluntary and highly recommended.

Over the next 9 weeks selected E-7s (Prospective Chief Petty Officers) will learn new skills in leadership, heritage, and mentorship.

This initiation focuses on fostering trust and communication, preparing them for increased responsibilities through rigorous training and tradition, culminating in the "Chiefs' Pinning" ceremony and a dinner to celebrate.

This year’s motto is “Honor the past. Lead today. Shape the future”

Spring Golf Outing just a couple weeks away!

Calling all golfers!!!

If you live or know anyone in Michigan, around the Detroit area, the USCG CPOA Greater Detroit Chapter is having a golf outing next month (June 14th, 2024) at Selfridge Golf Club Course! Below is the flyer for the event but if you have questions, I'll be more then happy to help.

Selfridge Golf Course is a beautiful course with amazing nature and sometimes some cool military aircraft flying around. There is prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place along with a chance to win 50/50, a brand new putter, and other prizes that will be on raffle.

The Chief Petty Officers Association funds assist military members and dependants in urgent need of assistance, assist in the local communities, promote social programs for those in need and many more. If you want to know more, just go to uscgcpoa.org for more information.

So if you like golfing and helping out the Chief Petty Officers Association. This is a great day to come out and have some fun!
