A new funding opportunity for Detroit’s youth arts community is here!

Proceeds from the first-ever The Coney: A celebrity charity event with everything on it will support youth arts education both now and for years to come through immediate grantmaking and the Endowment for Youth Arts.

The Children’s Foundation of Michigan is now accepting inquiries for the first annual The Coney – Youth Arts Education Impact Grants, supporting Detroit nonprofits that provide arts and culture programming for youth and young adults.

Grants will support:
• Arts Infrastructure
• Arts-Based Experiences
• Teaching Artists

Funding ranges from $5,000–$75,000, based on organization size.

Interested organizations should complete the Children’s Foundation of Michigan Inquiry Form and select “Youth Arts Education.”

Inquiry deadline: November 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Every child deserves to ride safely, and having the right car seat, properly installed, can make all the difference.

On Saturday, September 12, Hyundai generously sponsored a car seat safety check hosted by our friends at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Of the 72 children evaluated, only 4% arrived with a car seat that was installed correctly.

By the end of the event, 64 children were riding safer thanks to corrected installations and 45 new car and booster seats provided to families.

We’re grateful to for helping strengthen prevention efforts and protect the physical well-being of children in our community.

How do we create more opportunities for people to support Michigan’s children?

In a new Crain's Detroit Business commentary, Children’s Foundation of Michigan President & CEO Andrew Stein explores what it means to grow Detroit’s philanthropic community by giving more people meaningful ways to participate.

The Coney is one example. What began as a conversation with actor and co-founder of Detroit Creativity Project Marc Evan Jackson, about Detroit and a shared love for the city has grown into a new way to bring together local supporters and Detroiters across the country around youth arts.

This goal goes beyond one event: support youth arts organizations today while building a permanent endowment to sustain that support for generations to come.
