More housing, more neighborhood investment and more opportunities for Detroiters to live near the places they work, shop and spend time.

The opening of The Hive on Russell brings 78 new affordable apartments to a previously vacant site between Eastern Market and Lafayette Park, adding new housing in an area surrounded by businesses, transportation and some of Detroit’s most active community destinations.

All 78 apartments are rent restricted for households earning between 30% and 60% of Area Median Income, helping ensure more Detroiters can live near Eastern Market, the Dequindre Cut and the growing economic activity throughout the surrounding area.

Dixon’s Barber Shop, a $15,000 Detroit Legacy Business Project grant helped cover major improvements, including roof repairs and a new HVAC system. Those investments help protect the shop’s future and the generations of customers who continue to walk through its doors.

🔷 A new leader was tapped to help guide Detroit’s business and workforce development efforts.
🔷 Three new food and drink spots are headed to Detroit neighborhoods.
🔷 Fifth Third committed $20 million toward housing and small businesses in two Detroit neighborhoods.
🔷 Grounded opened its new EV manufacturing facility on Fort Street, bringing more production and jobs to Detroit.
🔷 New homes debuted at The Canopy in Core City, with more development on the way.
🔷 A new $1.24 million park will give Detroiters greater access to the Rouge River.
🔷 New apartments are emerging near Michigan Central as Bagley Vision brings more housing and activity to Corktown.
🔷 Detroit’s longtime businesses remain part of the city’s growth story through the Detroit Legacy Business Project.
