We are honored to welcome Health Alliance Plan (HAP) to the Haven Homes of Detroit community.

HAP joins us as a new corporate sponsor, and this partnership feels like a meaningful alignment. Healthcare access, mental health support, and whole-person wellness are at the center of what residents need to heal. HAP's work, connecting people to care, is rooted in the same belief we hold: that safe housing is a health issue.

We are grateful to have a partner who understands that too.

Welcome, HAP. We're glad you're here. 🌿

Three years. That is how long Westfield Insurance has shown up for the women in our homes, and we do not take that for granted.

Westfield's giving is rooted in a belief that families deserve stability, safe housing, and a real path forward after hard times. That is exactly what Haven Homes of Detroit is built around. The women we serve are working through some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable, and what makes the difference is consistent, long-term support that addresses the barriers in front of them, one at a time.
Westfield gets that. Their commitment to safe housing, workforce development, and helping underserved people stabilize and rebuild is not just aligned with our mission. It is the same mission, expressed differently.

Because of partners like Westfield, our program keeps its doors open and our residents keep moving forward.

Thank you, Westfield Insurance, for three years of believing this work is worth investing in 🤝

She passed her CNA exam. And not just passed — she earned the highest grade in her class. 🌱

This did not happen overnight. She worked through the classroom portion with determination, studied through hard days, and kept her eyes on what she was working toward, even when it was not easy. She has faced real challenges along the way, and watching her push through them and excel has been something we will not forget. She is now moving into her practice hours, and we are right there cheering her on.

We live in a world that rewards comfort and quick. Healing after trafficking is neither of those things. It is slow, and it is hard, and it asks a lot. Which is why moments like this one matter so much.

This is what it looks like when a woman has safe housing, steady support, and a community that believes in her. She does the work. We get to cheer. And truthfully, she inspires us too. Her willingness to keep going, to try new things and move through barriers, moves our staff and her fellow residents in ways that are hard to put into words.

We are so proud of her. Join us in celebrating what she has done.

The road ahead just opened up a little wider.

We have some exciting news to share.

Haven Homes of Detroit is now an official practicum site for BSW and MSW students through the Wayne State University School of Social Work.

This is a year-long practicum, which means students are not just visiting. They are embedded in the work alongside our team, learning what trauma-informed, survivor-centered care actually looks like day to day.

For HHD, this partnership does two things at once. It deepens the support our residents receive, and it helps shape the next generation of social workers who will carry this work forward. Wayne State is Emily's alma mater, and we are excited to be able to give back to students and future social work professionals in this way while also impacting the care we provide at HHD as we stay up to date with best social work practices by learning from students as well.

We are grateful to Wayne State for this collaboration, and we are excited to welcome a student into our homes and our mission.

The golf outing at Fox Hills Golden Fox was everything we hoped it would be ⛳️. Perfect Michigan weather, a nearly sold-out course, and a crowd that showed up the way only our community can.

Josh Koch on long drive. An incredible group of volunteers. And real conversations with people who genuinely care about this work and what we’ve been building over the last year. That’s what made the day.

It’s also looking like our most successful fundraiser ever. We’re still taking that in.

Thank you to everyone who came out, sponsored, donated, and cheered us on. You made it memorable. An official recap is coming soon.

And a special thank you to at for capturing every moment 📸.

Thank you, Adient Foundation, for showing up again to support the important work happening at HHD.

We are so excited to share some exciting news from HHD! Lauren Evans has joined us as our Grant Development and Strategic Partnership Consultant. She brings more than a decade of experience in grant writing, program evaluation, and nonprofit growth, and has secured and managed hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding for mission-driven organizations.

Most recently, Lauren served as Program Development and Evaluation Director for the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation, where she built partnerships with more than 25 schools across Michigan. Her work also includes grantmaking support and board communications with the Detroit Public Schools Community District Foundation, rooting her deeply in the Detroit nonprofit community.

She believes strong nonprofits create more humanizing and equitable communities. We couldn't agree more, and we’re so glad she's here and supporting the exciting work happening at Haven Homes of Detroit.

Safe housing means more than four walls.

For many of our residents, being located through their phone has been a source of real fear. Being located by a trafficker through a device is something we have walked through with the women in our care, which is why this partnership means so much to us.

Haven Homes of Detroit is now a Vox Invictus partner organization through Survivor Source, expanding access to safe, new phones for survivors. Staying connected to the world should not mean staying vulnerable.

Thank you to Survivor Source for offering the Vox Invictus program and The Woolf Group for seeing the practical, everyday needs of the women we serve.

We are honored to welcome Haven Homes of Detroit as a Vox Invictus partner organization.

Vox Invictus is built on the belief that a safe, reliable connection can support access to care, stability, and long-term independence. Partner organizations make this work possible by helping ensure that survivors are connected to resources through trusted, thoughtful, and privacy-conscious pathways.

We are grateful to Haven Homes of Detroit for being part of this growing network and for their commitment to supporting survivors with care and dignity.
