The mission of Haven Homes of Detroit is to empower women to heal from the trauma of trafficking and exploitation by providing safe housing, creating supportive communities, removing barriers to resources, and equipping them with the skills they need to reclaim their lives and create a brighter future.

$4,085 raised. 29 donors. 82% of the way to $5,000, in Haven Homes of Detroit's very first year in the Rocket Community Challenge.

That's not just a number. That's this community showing up, again and again, for women building safety and healing in Detroit.

We're excited to announce that LaDonna Moore has joined the Haven Homes of Detroit board of directors.

LaDonna's business acumen combined with her passion for education and empowering people makes her a welcome addition to our team. She's a Lowe's Store Manager, author, motivational speaker, and community advocate who has spent her career pushing for the same thing over and over: resilience, purpose, and growth for the women and young people around her.

As a Detroit native, LaDonna is committed to using her voice and career to advocate for women in SE Michigan, and we are grateful to have her expertise on our board. At home, she's a proud wife and mom of two girls, a 13 year old basketball girlie and an 8 year old cheerleader, and she'll tell you they're her greatest inspiration.

Grateful doesn't begin to cover it.

Haven Homes of Detroit is honored to announce continued support from the DTE Foundation. Their mission is to create lasting, meaningful impact in the communities they serve, with a focus on meeting basic human needs and transforming underserved neighborhoods. Ours is to offer safe housing and a path to healing for survivors rebuilding their lives. Different starting points. Same destination: a stronger, safer Detroit.

We continue to be so grateful for their support. Beyond this grant, we are thankful for their support at our events, for sharing our story and helping us network, and for being a trusted resource when we need insights or feedback.

Oh baby 🩵 Yesterday was a special afternoon celebrating Regina and her soon to be here baby boy with the whole HHD community. Staff, residents, sisters for life, and Regina's mom all in one room for one reason: this new baby. Exactly what we needed. Emily planned the perfect party, food, games, and time together, and we especially loved the sweet treats Dana made 🎂 (I now understand why her ig name is "dana cake lady"!).

Regina, we are praying for you as you continue waiting for your new little one. It was such a special afternoon celebrating you. 🫶🏾

Have we ever told you that we love celebrating milestones? 🌱

Last week, each woman celebrated finishing Alice's survivor group workbook, Beaten Not Broken, by crafting a box to hold their 2026 goals. Healing is more than just learning new ideas, and these boxes will provide tangible reminders for each resident about her goals and encouragement to keep moving forward.

We are so grateful for the survivor leaders on our staff who show up for our residents every day with empathy and lived experience.

But this month, the first $2,500 raised through the Challenge will be matched by a generous HHD supporter. Metro-Detroit- this one is for you!! The Rocket Community Challenge is here, and it’s open to the entire Detroit community, not just Rocket employees.

It’s a rare, exciting opportunity for HHD: wider visibility for Haven Homes of Detroit’s mission, paired with real matching dollars. The first week of August, Rocket will add match funding on top of what’s already given. We’re currently seeking a $2,500 match fund to help encourage broader participation and multiply every gift that comes in.

If you’ve been wanting to take the next step with your HHD support, funding a match is a great way to double your impact and encourage others to support HHD. One week at Haven Homes.

This is what community looks like when it's built on purpose and with healing in mind- therapy appointments and grocery runs, GED classes and grief counseling, art therapy and a birthday cake. Every single day, something is happening here that doesn't make the highlight reel. This is us pulling back the curtain on what healing with community looks like at HHD.
