✨ THROWBACK ✨ to a really powerful story shared on The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast.

Years ago, Deb Ellinger - founder of Elli’s House - met a woman on the streets of Detroit. She was one of the very first women Deb ever talked to during street outreach. Deb told her: “I’m going to start keeping notes about who you are and what you’re doing.”

For years, Deb and the Elli’s House team kept showing up. Off and on. Again and again.

Until the day she said: “I’m done. I don’t want this life anymore.” Today? She is THRIVING. 🙌 And she and Deb still keep in touch.

Deb says Elli’s House was only “a real small part” of her story — but that’s the whole point. As Deb reminds us:
“We have the power to change our lives and get out of bad situations… but we just need somebody to believe in us and say, ‘Hey, I’m here.’”

Never underestimate the power of simply showing up for someone.

🌟 REVOLUTION OF THE WEEK | Hayden Panettiere

This week, our Revolution of the Week is different. This week, we honor a life - and a legacy.

Like so many of you, I grew up watching Hayden Panettiere - Sheryl Yoast in Remember the Titans, the indestructible cheerleader in Heroes, Juliette Barnes in Nashville. From the time she was a little girl, she lit up every screen she was on. And she was a light to this world!

But Hayden’s greatest role was never scripted. At just 18, she paddled a surfboard into the waters of Taiji, Japan, placing herself between dolphin hunters and the animals she loved - a moment captured in the Oscar-winning documentary The Cove. She spent years advocating for whales and dolphins, and just two weeks before her passing, she filmed one final campaign pleading for dolphins to live free. She fought for them until the very end.

And then there’s the revolution she started for mothers. After welcoming her daughter, Kaya, in 2014, Hayden told the truth about postpartum depression at a time when it was dismissed and hidden in shame. She reminded women everywhere: You are not alone. You are not a bad mother. It is real, and it heals.

It cost her brand deals and career opportunities - but she paid that price so millions of mothers wouldn’t have to suffer in silence. That is a revolution.
Her love for Kaya ran through everything she did - including the hardest and most selfless decisions of her life. Earlier this year, she poured her honesty into her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning - brave and unflinching to the last page.

At 1 Girl Revolution, we believe every woman changes the world through her life - and Hayden changed it many times over. For the animals who had no voice. For the mothers surviving in silence. For everyone who has ever struggled and been afraid to say so.
Our hearts are with Kaya, the entire Panettiere family, and all who loved her. 🤍

Rest in peace, sweet Hayden. Your revolution lives on. ✨

Breaking away looks different for every woman. Sometimes it’s a relationship that’s run its course. Sometimes it’s a friendship that stopped feeling like home. Sometimes it’s the job, the city, the version of yourself you outgrew years ago but kept carrying anyway. Whatever it is, the moment you let go of what’s holding you back is the moment you finally have room to fly.
