The Feelgood Tap raises funds to support local and regional nonprofits throughout Michigan with a focus on community, culture, and wellness. Each participating Feelgood Tap member will pick one beer, cocktail, or wine to feature each month. They will raise the price by $1, and pass that $1 from consumers to the Feelgood Tap. The consumers do the giving; the establishment facilitates it, gets a tax
benefit, and helps support valuable work being done across the state. (If the establishment wants to kick in another dollar and up the contribution to $2 per drink, that’s entirely up to them!)
Our other goal is to scale small-amount giving. Certainly, $1 isn’t going to create a whole lot of change. Even a monthly contribution from one member (avg $500-1000/mo.) probably isn’t going to radically change how much work a nonprofit can accomplish. That’s why we’re trying to get a large group of small contributors working together to create a bigger impact. The Feelgood Tap distributes money in three ways:
Statewide: once per quarter, the Feelgood Tap board picks one recipient that receives all the Feelgood Tap member contributions during that month. Regional: once per quarter, all members within each region vote on a nonprofit to receive all funds contributed by members in their region during that month. Local: once per quarter, every member picks their own local nonprofit to receive the funds generated through the Feelgood Tap that month.
