Last week, GreenLight Fund Denver had the honor of hosting our national network in the place we call home.

We spent intentional time connecting and building relationships, reflecting on our work, and strengthening the collaboration that powers our network.

Deep gratitude to the incredible speakers and partners who joined us, including Indira Guzman, Co-Founder & CEO of the Community Language Cooperative, who has been a partner to our team in Denver for community engagement, alongside interpreter Genaro Ortiz, for a powerful conversation on language justice and creating spaces where every voice is heard; and local leaders Noah Atencio, CEO of Philanthropy Colorado, and Roweena Naidoo, Vice President for Policy and Community Initiatives at Mile High United Way, for sharing insights on equity, collaboration, and place-based philanthropy.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to host and share the people, places, and things we love so much about our city!

This AANHPI Heritage Month, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities across the country and here locally in Denver. At GreenLight Fund Denver, we’re committed to advancing equity by supporting leaders and organizations who are deeply rooted in and responsive to their communities. We honor the impact of AANHPI leaders today and every day.

We’re proud to partner with Health Career Connection (HCC) to grow the next generation of Colorado’s health leaders. HCC is an organization building pathways for emerging health leaders and connecting them to meaningful careers in community health.

Together, we’re investing in people, strengthening Community Health Centers, and expanding access to care across Colorado. Partner with HCC and become an internship host organization by April 29th.

Learn about Second Chance Month and the work of our colleagues in Boston and Philadelphia.

April is Second Chance Month, and we’re recognizing the work of The Fountain Fund in advancing economic mobility and removing barriers for individuals returning home from incarceration.

A GreenLight Fund Boston and GreenLight Fund Philadelphia portfolio organization, The Fountain Fund supports returning citizens with low-interest loans and financial coaching. These loans are often used to reinstate a driver’s license, secure employment, or access stable housing - tools that help build credit and open pathways to long-term opportunity. The organization’s goal is to help Client Partners access capital in ways that strengthen their financial stability and expand economic mobility.

We just wrapped up our first Selection Advisory Council (SAC) meeting of our third selection cycle! Our SAC members helped us prioritize focus areas for investment this year. We’re so thankful to them for their thoughtful participation and feedback on what support Denver needs most. 💚

We kicked off selection three by deeply listening to the community. We partnered with Colorado Design Insight Group(CDIG) to conduct individual in-depth interviews with 21 Denver families to understand what’s most difficult right now. We also talked with local nonprofit staff and community leaders about gaps in services they’re noticing around the city. All of this information helps us understand what challenges and opportunities exist that we should explore further.

We value the knowledge and lived experience that our community brings to the table, and this work would not be possible without it. 💚

At GreenLight Fund, we facilitate a five-step, community-driven process to bring proven, high-impact organizations to Denver. From start to finish, we partner closely with our local Selection Advisory Council (SAC) – a group of community leaders, residents, and experts who help guide each step of the way.

As we prepare for our first SAC meeting of the year, we wanted to remind you of this five-step process so you can follow along.

Women’s History Month is a time to honor women’s contributions to society in all fields and to uplift their voices and stories. This Women’s History Month, we’re taking a moment to highlight the incredible women that contribute to the GreenLight Denver mission.

Our team, our Selection Advisory Council, Investors, and community members are vital contributors to GreenLight Fund Denver’s process whether it’s sharing lived experiences, selecting a new portfolio organization, or all of the behind the scenes work that is required to make GreenLight run. We are sincerely grateful for each and every one of you and all of the profound contributions you bring to this work. Thank you, and Happy Women’s History Month!
