Join us tomorrow, October 14, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. via zoom for our general body meeting. We will hear from Yarkenda Payne about the Colorado Black Equity Study. Sam Cary is being asked to participate in round tables and how the legal profession impacts equity in the Black Community. We need your voice.

Over the next two years History Colorado will conduct evidence-based historical research and provide the Black Coloradan Racial Equity Study Commission with quarterly updates. History Colorado will also conduct community engagement sessions where the public may provide input based on lived experiences of practices, systems, and policies of the State of Colorado which negatively impact Black Coloradans.

Meet Sam Cary Bar Association's Member of the Month. Tyler Griffin. Thank you Tyler for being a member of Sam Cary.

Tyler Griffin is a securities associate at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP in Denver. Her practice focuses on private equity fund formation. Before joining Brownstein, Tyler was a capital markets and securities associate at Dorsey & Whitney.

Tyler was the first Black woman to graduate from Vanderbilt’s JD/Master of Science in Finance dual degree program. She earned her undergraduate degree cm laude from DePaul University, where she captained the Division I volleyball team. Outside of work, Tyler enjoys spending time with her husband Cameron, their 15-month-old son, Cassius, and their six-year-old miniature dachshund, Prince Louie Andouille. She has been admitted to the Colorado bar since 2021.

It is with sadness that we share the passing of our former Sam Cary Bar Association Treasurer, Joni Johnson Powe, who passed away on September 19, 2026 after a long battle with cancer.

Joni served as Treasurer in 2003 under the leadership of then-President Skip Gray and remained a friend to Sam Cary. She was a valuable friend and resource to Sam Cary as a CPA and tax attorney. She generously shared her professional knowledge with our membership through several CLE presentations on accounting and tax matters.

Her willingness to share her expertise and support the professional development of our members reflects the spirit of service and community that defines the Sam Cary Bar Association.

Her services will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church on Nov. 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

Today’s clothing boutique and career seminar was a success. Thank you Patty Hummons Powell, Lorna Dubose and Judge Angela Boykin for organizing and sponsoring this event for the Black law students. Thank you Natacha M Gutierrez, Obi Wan Tashnobi, Jessica Jackson and Judge Miles A. Cabral for your insights and sharing your stories. We thank everyone who donated suits and dress clothes for our students.

Sam Cary gives condolences to Denver native attorney Patricia Moore Rosier. She attended Manual High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Denver College of Law. Attorney Rosier was a past president of the National Bar Association. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing to the Denver legal community.
