Backline Backline’s core mission has always been to meet the mental health needs of the music community prior to the point of crisis.

Backline is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources

Built for the music industry, by the music industry. Through our online resources, case management program, and support group offerings, music industry professionals can seek help in a variety of ways; anonymously online, by scheduling a personal phone call and assessment with our team, and by attending one of our virtual support groups.

Backline and the Neal Casal Music Foundation are proud to announce that applications are open for our 2027 Neal Casal Clinical Fellow!

Neal Casal was a beloved guitarist and songwriter whose generous spirit touched everyone he played with. Since we lost him in 2019, this fellowship has carried that heart forward. 💛

For four years, our fellows have helped artists, crew, and their families find timely, specialized mental health care. They’ve vetted hundreds of clinicians, built the Touring Notebook and Road Ready, showed up during the LA wildfires, and helped grow Harmony in Practice from 29 attendees to 76.

This fellowship is made possible by a grant from Harper House Music Foundation, a music charity devoted to musicians, their music, and their legacies.
