Helping others can start at any age. 🐾

Laynee Pahl, a student at Tinora Elementary, used her Piggy Bank Philanthropy savings to buy food and treats for the Fort Defiance Humane Society.

By doing chores and saving her money, Laynee made a difference for animals in need right here in our community.

Thank you, Laynee, for your big heart and your love for helping others! 🐶💙

Donor Spotlight: Kirk & Lisa Collins

“Being involved in the Defiance Area Foundation has allowed us to become an invaluable resource for our community. With their support and financial generosity, we have witnessed firsthand our friends and neighbors successfully spearhead projects that would not otherwise be possible.”

Kirk and Lisa believe in the power of people stepping forward with ideas that make our community stronger.

“When people in the community take the initiative to complete a project that will benefit their community, those are the type of things that make our village great and reassure us that our children will continue to have a great place to grow up.”

Thank you, Kirk and Lisa, for helping build a legacy of generosity right here in Defiance County.

From vision to everyday use.

In Fall 2024, the Hicksville Wildcard Disc Golf Course received a $5,000 grant from us to support course signage. Today, that investment is already making a difference.

“This grant helped provide the main course sign, tee signs, posts, and concrete to ensure the longevity and quality of this course,” shared Project Coordinator Kevin Troyer.

What was once a space with little activity is now seeing almost daily use. The course hosted a sanctioned league last year and is preparing to host its first C-Tier sanctioned tournament this year on May 23.

“Without your help, this project would’ve never come to fruition.”

We’re grateful to be part of a project that is creating new opportunities for recreation, connection, and community pride.

The excitement at this year’s Project 2030 Annual Meeting reminded us why this initiative matters.

With our best turnout yet and meaningful conversation around the future of Defiance County, we are more excited than ever for what is ahead.

Project 2030 is about bringing people together to dream big, think boldly, and help create something lasting for our community by the year 2030.

There is still room for more voices, more ideas, and more members.

We are thrilled to welcome The Compound back as a valued partner for our 2026 Gala as our Culinary Sponsor.

With their generous $15,000 gift, The Compound is helping create an exceptional dining experience for our guests through catering by Sweetwater Chophouse. Their continued support plays an important role in making this evening not only memorable, but meaningful for our community.

The Gala is more than a celebration. It is an opportunity to come together in support of the Defiance County Community Fund, helping us respond to the needs of our community both now and in the future.

We are grateful for The Compound’s continued commitment to building a strong and generous Defiance County.

Thank you for making this year’s Project 2030 Annual Meeting our best turnout yet!

We were excited to welcome more than 50 community members last night for an evening of updates, conversation, and big-picture thinking for the future of Defiance County at Iron Horse Brews.

A special thank you to our Project 2030 officers for sharing quick updates on our progress and next steps, and to Mayor Mike McCann and his team for presenting the City Parks Plan. His presentation sparked great audience participation and meaningful discussion around what is possible as Project 2030 continues moving forward.

We are also grateful for the Project 2030 Committee and everyone who continues to give their time, ideas, and support to this community-led initiative.
