This is an adorable family event where you can walk around our magical holiday decorated Downtown and receive almost a dozen and a half freshly baked cookies for only $15!

Another graphic you'll see in our mural (towards the bottom and kind of in the middle) are these four circles. These four circles represent the four communities that make up Defiance County: The city of Defiance, and the villages of Hicksville, Ney, and Sherwood.

Defiance was incorporated in 1823 though its origins trace back to Fort Defiance in 1794. The village of Hicksville was platted by Henry W. Hicks in 1836 but was incorporated in 1875. The village of Ney was originally plated as Georgetown in 1846 but was changed to Ney in the 1850's after Micheal Ney; a French Officer. The village of Sherwood was platted in 1874 by Isaac R. Sherwood but was officially established in 1891.

We know we aren't professional history buffs, and some of this information varied depending on different sites. However, each community has a 'home page' and this is where we got the information from.

With our Witches Brew for CASA 2026 event, we were able to raise $5,000 for Northwest Ohio CASA! That is absolutely amazing! ✨

Another important symbol that you will see in our incredible mural is this graphic (towards the middle on the on right side) of lilacs! Yes, we are used to seeing a bunch of these all together to form the traditional lilac shape, but these are what each individual flower looks like!

The lilac is the official flower of Defiance, OH, and is celebrated annually in the Lilac Festival & Street Fair, a free Downtown event featuring arts, crafts, food, and free lilac seedlings for early guests.

Defiance, OH made the lilac its official city flower in the 1920s when then-Mayor Ed Bronson, also president of the Defiance Garden Club, chose it for its beauty and fragrance. The choice has since been a beloved part of the city's identity and spring traditions.
