Foster Elly wishes everyone a Happy Sunday! Elly has settled nicely in to her foster home. She went to the vet this week. Her bloodwork, f***l and urinalysis were all perfect! She has a dental scheduled in a couple of weeks. Elly is 9 y/o. She is very sweet and very friendly. She loves to be outside in the yard. Elly also does well with the other dachshunds in her foster home. She is fostered in Madison, WI. Update: Transport filled!!!

Transport help is needed on Tuesday, September 1st for one dog. The Leg 1 transporter will need to provide a crate, as the shelter doesn't have one (we will reimburse for crate cost). Many of you have been asking what we used to get Jax and Ginger's coats back into good shape.

We have been using A Pup Above (human-grade) Frozen Pork, which can be found at Pet Supplies Plus and many independent pet stores, though not at Petco or PetSmart. For dogs with skin issues, we always use this brand's pork formula because it is free of unnecessary carbohydrates and starches and all human grade great ingredients. As a reminder, we always determine the best diet based on their bloodwork results.

In addition to the food, they are receiving coconut oil once a day, canned sardines 2-3 times a week (no salt, packed in water), and regular medicated baths.

Here is a before and now picture of Jax (red) and Ginger. They have been in rescue almost a month. Their foster mom Trisha has worked hard to get them in better shape. They have another vet appt this weekend and we are hoping for good news.

What a cutie💕
Roxie is a 2 year old soft wire. She came to rescue from a breeder very scared with badly matted fur. It is going to take a while to get her looking good. Roxie has gone to the vet for bloodwork, a dental cleaning, spay, and vaccinations. Roxie will be fostered in NW Indiana and will not be available for adoptions for several weeks while we treat her f***l parasites and help her acclimate to life as a loved family member.

Dachshund Races-Registration required only if your dachshund will race. There are limited slots so sign up: https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/mwdr-doxie-dash/wienerfest-at-the-arb-races Great prizes for winners

The Dachshund Costume Contest will be held in the large grass stage area. Registration is not required, but please bring your own lawn chairs for seating. Prizes given for top 10 costumes!
Events and attractions for the day include:

- Mini Wienermobile: Available for photo opportunities.
- MWDR General Store: Offering a variety of Dachshund merchandise.
- Music
- Misc Vendors and Food options within the Arb

We have another special veterinary transport on Friday, August 28th for one dog. This can either be done by one transporter who is willing to wait for the 90 min appointment to be completed (lunch or an errand during the time is encouraged 🙂). Or, we could have two transporters.
