Monthly Money Showcase! Morgan Dollars! Morgan Dollars were minted from 1878 to 1921. The Composition of Morgan Dollars are 90% Silver. Morgan Dollars are always a highly popular coin for collectors. Morgan Dollars were minted from the Philadelphia, San Francisco, Denver, New Orleans and Carson City Mints. The key date to the entire Morgan Dollar set is the 1893-S. An 1893-S Morgan Dollar in Good-4 Condition can fetch over $3,000.00!
Carson City Minted Morgan Dollars from 1878 to 1904 can also fetch anywhere from $90.00 in Good Condition to a few thousand each in Brillant Uncirculated Condition.
The United States Government primarily produced the Carson City Minted Morgan Dollars from the Silver found from the Comstock Lode. The Comstock Lode was the biggest Silver Lode ever found in the United States!
The General Services Administration (GSA) of the United States Gov't in 1971 decided to sell to the public surplus found Morgan Dollars in the Treasury Vaults. These Morgan Dollars became known as the GSA Hoard Morgan Dollars. GSA Hoard Morgan Dollars come in a black presentation box with a small informational paper. GSA Hoard Morgan Dollars are always a great numismatic item and are absolutely stunning. This is because almost all GSA Hoard Morgan Dollars are in Brillant Uncirculated Condition.

Just a note on Yesterday’s Coin Show at the Lake County Fair Grounds in the 4H building. We had a turn out of over 238 attendees. I have been working on this show for the last 15 years or so and this was our best turn out in that time span. A big shout and thanks to all who attended. This was a very successful event and would not have happened without tremendous support from all club members who really showed up and did the dirty work getting everything ready! Thanks to all who helped it was really appreciated!
