The Power of Me: Be Well. Live Well. Lead Well.

Nonprofit professionals spend their days caring for their missions, their organizations, and the people and communities they serve—but this year, the Nonprofit Academy Conference is turning the focus back on you.

The Power of Me is a day designed to invest in the person behind the purpose, with practical tools, meaningful learning, and space to focus on your own growth, well-being, and sustainability. Through engaging speakers, interactive sessions, and opportunities to connect with fellow nonprofit professionals, you’ll leave feeling recharged, inspired, and equipped with strategies you can put into action right away - both in your work and in your life.

What to Expect:
The day will begin with breakfast and an interactive DISC assessment and self-discovery experience, followed by three rounds of breakout sessions designed to let you personalize your conference experience.

Topics will include:
Leadership & Personal Growth • Burnout & Boundaries • Emotional Intelligence • AI & Productivity • Personal Financial Wellness • Fundraising & Donor Retention • Succession Planning • Delegation & Capacity • Long-Term Sustainability

Pajamas, pizza, and partnership!

Last Friday, nonprofit professionals traded their everyday work attire for pajamas, slippers, and robes as we wrapped up the Crown Point Community Foundation’s Power of Partnership Series with a Pajama Party! Everyone brought plenty of fun to our final workshop - and a few lucky participants even took home prizes and giveaways for embracing the theme!

Once everyone was settled in and cozy, it was time to get to work. Gathered at the Dean and Barbara White Community Center, nonprofit professionals advancing to Round 2 as Lead Applicants and Supporting Collaborators came together for the third and final workshop in the Power of Partnership Series: Building a Strong Sustainability Plan.

Led by the team at Hedges, the workshop provided participants with practical tools and guidance to help strengthen their collaborative efforts and think strategically about the long-term sustainability of their initiatives as they continue through Round 2 of CPCF’s Million Dollar Challenge.

Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the Power of Partnership Series! We’ve loved seeing the conversations, connections, and collaborations that have taken shape along the way. As organizations continue through the Million Dollar Challenge, we’re excited to see these partnerships grow, strengthen, and create lasting impact throughout Northwest Indiana!

What an incredible evening of giving, connection, and community impact!

Last night, members of the Crown Point Community Foundation’s Women’s Giving Circle gathered at The East Point Venue for our annual Collective Grantmaking Event. Through the generosity of our members, five local nonprofits were each awarded a $2,000 grant!

Women’s Giving Circle members contribute $100 or more throughout the year and have the opportunity to vote for the nonprofits they want to support - turning individual gifts into meaningful impact across our community.

After the votes were cast, guests enjoyed a lively trivia game before the exciting announcement of this year’s grant recipients:

• Dunes Dog Training Club (Pets N Vets)
• In-Pact Inc.
• Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids Foundation
• Phil’s Friends

A special thank you to Kathy Roeser of The Roeser Group at Morgan Stanley and Jane Lambesis of Federated Hermes for sponsoring this year’s gathering, and to all our Women’s Giving Circle members for making this evening possible!

In addition to these grants, the Women’s Giving Circle is proud to announce a $2,500 Scholarship for an Adult Learner (21+) to be awarded in 2027!

Today, Crown Point Community Foundation humbly accepted the Community Impact Award from Hope Alliance of NWI.

Our VP of Philanthropy, Buffy D. Adams thanked those in attendance, at the Survival to Stability event, for the honor to be recognized on a day that is about so much more than an award. “Today is about remembrance. It’s about support. And it’s about hope.”

Thank you, Hope Alliance for your life-changing, life-saving mission. And thank you, NWI, for proving that hope is still our greatest resource.

There’s still time to apply for the September 2026 CPCF Grant Cycle! Submit your application at cpcfgrants.communityforce.com before the deadline.

Grants from the CPCF Community Grantmaking Fund will be made to nonprofit organizations and community projects which serve residents in South Lake County, including Crown Point, Cedar Lake, Lowell (Tri-Creek Townships), and Winfield.

Fields of interest which will be considered for funding include Animal Welfare, Arts and Culture, Community Improvement, Economic Development, Education, Environmental, Food/Nutrition/Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Housing and Shelter, Public Safety, Recreation, Religion Related, and Youth Development.

Applications must be submitted by September 1, 2026. Don’t miss this opportunity to bring your project to life and strengthen our community.

Crown Point Community Foundation and Legacy Foundation are accepting applications for Lake County disaster emergency relief grants up to $75,000. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis to allow the Foundations to respond quickly to emerging community needs caused by the storms that took place on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The application will remain open as long as funding is available.
