Last spring, Munster High School government teacher Michael Gordon applied for a grant from the Munster Education Foundation that would fund pocket Constitutions for every graduating senior this year. The first copies were distributed to seniors this week.

Mr. Gordon is passionate about government and teaches this class to every MHS senior. The idea of seeing each student using their own copy of the U.S. Constitution gave him great pleasure.

Until a few years ago, textbook fees supplied the funds needed to make these copies available to students. But the state of Indiana no longer allows schools to charge textbook fees. Mr. Gordon sought help from MEF to bring this tradition back.

"At the core of civic education is the development of the knowledge, skills and dispositions of understanding American constitutionalism," he said. "With pocket Constitutions in hand, our students move closer to such success."

We're proud to support you, Mr. Gordon!

When you make a donation to the Munster Education Foundation, you join a strong history of supporters who help elevate the quality of education in our community.

Support from individuals, businesses and organizations in our community is essential. Donated funds offer a basis for educators to apply for grants that offer opportunities for hands-on learning, give students the chance to test their vision and skills, empower teachers to apply new and advanced concepts in the classroom, and enable educators to focus resources on high-need areas, such as tools for building literacy skills in new ways. These funds benefit all five Munster schools, every year.

Thank you to the following businesses and individuals who sponsor the Munster Education Foundation.

This list reflects sponsorships received through Sept. 26, 2026.
