Navonathon 2026 Beneficiary Announcement!

We are honored to announce Ashlee Howard as one of our 2026 Navonathon — Saturday, Nov. 21st beneficiaries. Ashlee is a single mother of four young boys who is courageously battling stage 4 cancer.

We are currently seeking event sponsors, monetary donations, and silent auction items to support Ashlee and other St. Tammany Parish families facing unexpected hardships.

100% of proceeds raised go directly toward supporting local families in need. All donations are tax-deductible through our 501c3 nonprofit organization.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

I am incredibly grateful to announce that today we donated our very first piece of adaptive equipment through the Mason Gaines Legacy Award to Madisonville Elementary School’s sensory room, helping students with special needs thrive.

This award was created in honor of Mason Nakia Gaines, who was my student at Madisonville Elementary and tragically passed away in October 2023. Mason was an incredible child with the most beautiful spirit and a smile that could light up a room.

Mason was nonverbal and received an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device just a few months before his passing. He had even begun using it functionally, communicating during play by pressing buttons like “Go.” Watching Mason begin to find his voice was nothing short of a miracle. God placed the right people around him at the right time, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity he had to communicate in new ways.

Losing Mason was incredibly difficult for everyone who knew and loved him. When I founded What We Sow Foundation, I knew I wanted to create a program that would continue helping children with special needs access the resources, equipment and support they need to reach their full potential. That vision became the Mason Gaines Legacy Award.

After opening applications just two months ago, we are so excited to announce Madisonville Elementary as our very first recipient!

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this program possible and supported its growth. A very special thank you to A Gift Given in Jesus’ Name through the In Jesus’ Name Foundation for helping bring this vision to life and making it possible to uplift children with special needs throughout St. Tammany Parish. And thank you Ms. Haile (Teacher of the Year) for helping coordinate this!

Today is about so much more than a donation. It is about continuing Mason’s legacy, creating opportunities and making sure every child has the chance to thrive.
