MISSION MONDAY

This week, we’re highlighting one of Lions International’s global causes: DIABETES.

This is an area where the Concord Lions Club is still looking for the right way to serve. Diabetes affects many families and can be connected to serious health challenges, including vision loss, which makes it a natural fit for Lions service.

Do you care about diabetes awareness, prevention, education, or support?

We would love to hear from you.

Sometimes a great service project starts with one person who has the passion, knowledge, or personal connection to help move it forward.

That’s how Lions service grows.

We Serve.

Mark your calendars!

The Concord Lions Club is excited to be part of Friends-A-Palooza on Saturday, July 25, from 11 AM to 2 PM at Keach Park.

This kid-focused community event is all about fun, friendship, connection, and bringing families together for a great summer day in Concord.

We’re already planning something fun for our booth and can’t wait to join The Friends Program and so many other community partners.

More details coming soon, but for now, save the date! The Friends Program

Last night’s End-of-Year and Officer Installation Dinner gave us the opportunity to celebrate service, scholarships, and the leaders who will guide the Concord Lions Club in the coming year.

Congratulations to our 2026 scholarship recipients: Maggie Hall, Ava Todd, Lyric Picard, and Hannah Verville. We were pleased to welcome Ava and Lyric, along with their parents, and to recognize the accomplishments of all four recipients. We wish each of them continued success.

We also welcomed our incoming leadership team: Vice President John Bly, Secretary Sarah Emberley Moeckel, Treasurer Norm Roberge, and Membership Chair Alicia Clark. I am grateful to continue serving as president and look forward to working alongside each of them.

The evening included three special recognitions. Dik Dagavarian received the Bob Addario Lion of the Year Award, a memorial award established in honor of the late Lion Bob Addario and presented in recognition of outstanding service to our club. A Granite State Fellow was presented to the American Legion, and I was surprised and deeply honored to receive a Melvin Jones Fellowship. Thank you to the club for this meaningful recognition.

We are grateful to District Governor Pam Prentiss for joining us and installing our incoming officers.

Finally, thank you to Diane Dagavarian and Carole Roberge for organizing the dinner and managing the many details that made the evening possible.

This evening, The Concord Lions Club celebrated one of its most successful years yet with the highest number of hours in recent years dedicated to making our Concord community stronger than ever.

Two of the four scholarship winners (of twenty nine applicants) were honored with dinner at The Red Blazer Restaurant. Congratulations again to our 2026 scholarship recipients: Maggie Hall, Ava Todd, Lyric Picard, and Hannah Verville. We were pleased to welcome Ava and Lyric, along with their parents, and to recognize the accomplishments of all four recipients. We wish each of them continued success.

We remembered the countless events in which we have served the community from 2025-2026;
1. Eye screenings to children and adults.
2. Donated time at Abbott Downing bike event.
3. 32 raised garden beds donated to Concord Families, dirt and seeds included.
4. Trash cleanup x2 in the year (26 bags this month).
5. Donations to Christ the King food pantry, The Friends Program, Friends of Forgotten Children, ARC, Best Buddies, A Place For Everyone, and countless other local charities, along with the Payson Center for wellness supplies (not otherwise funded).
6. WindowDressers, in which we volunteered and built heat saving window inserts for those in need sealing their windows for the cold.
7. Private donation to an individual who could not afford a wheelchair lift to their bedroom.

And so much more.

We serve. We lift others up. With a loyal, proud and kindhearted roar.

THANK YOU to those volunteers who serve with us, and the community members who do the work that we fund. You make our community strong, beautiful, and worth living in. 🦁

Twenty-six bags of trash.

That's what seven Concord Lions collected during Saturday's roadside cleanup along the Clinton Street Park & Ride and approximately 1.2 miles of Clinton Street.

It's not the most glamorous kind of service, but it's one of the most visible. Every bag removed helps make our community cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for everyone.

A huge thank you to the Lions who spent their Saturday morning making a difference one piece of litter at a time. Small acts of service add up, and this weekend's impact was easy to see.

26 bags. 7 Lions. 1 cleaner Concord.
