Starting in June, the New Hampshire Bar Association is updating LawLine to make legal guidance more accessible for people across New Hampshire. The public will be asked to complete a short online form ahead of time, and during LawLine hours, anonymous volunteer attorneys will reach out directly to a list of pre-screened applicants. This shift means faster help, more focused legal guidance, and a smoother experience for everyone who relies on LawLine.

LawLine is held the second Wednesday of each month from 6 - 8pm.

This year’s Annual Meeting - the last resort-based meeting until 2030 - offers attendees the perfect balance of professional development, networking, and recreation. The event kicks off on Friday afternoon with the annual business meeting, followed by an opportunity to earn 60 NHMCLE minutes with a video replay CLE. In the evening, attendees will gather in the Crystal Ballroom for a reception and the Honors and Awards Banquet. Saturday starts with an optional “wake and walk,” continues with a second CLE opportunity worth 120 NHMCLE ethics minutes, and offers a range of recreational experiences, including axe throwing, lawn games, and optional beer and wine tastings. The evening will feature the President’s Banquet and Leadership Academy Graduation, followed by a lively Casino Night, where gamblers of all skill levels can ante up (with funny money, of course), or a cozy night of s’mores by the campfire. The event wraps up Sunday morning with breakfast and a guided hike.

Cyber threats targeting law firms are no longer hypothetical—they are constant, evolving, and increasingly sophisticated. From ransomware attacks and business email compromise schemes to social engineering, deepfakes, and AI-driven fraud, attorneys today operate in an environment where client confidentiality and firm operations are continuously at risk. This timely program provides New Hampshire practitioners with a practical, real-world update on the current threat landscape and, more importantly, how to respond when—not if—an incident occurs.

Mechanics’ liens remain one of the most powerful—and most technical—tools available to contractors, suppliers, and construction professionals seeking payment for their work. For attorneys advising clients in construction, real estate, or commercial litigation, understanding how to properly create, perfect, and enforce a lien can make the difference between securing payment and losing priority to other creditors. This practical program walks through the full lifecycle of a mechanic’s lien under New Hampshire law—from determining eligibility and satisfying statutory prerequisites to navigating judicial attachment, priority disputes, and related contractual and bankruptcy issues. Faculty will highlight common pitfalls, strategic considerations, and the procedural steps practitioners must master to effectively protect their clients’ interests.

Every attorney–client relationship has a lifecycle—from the first inquiry and intake conversation through active representation and ultimately to the closing of the file. Each stage presents its own ethical considerations, practical challenges, and potential risks. This engaging two-hour ethics program explores the professional responsibility issues that arise throughout the full arc of the attorney–client relationship and offers practical strategies for navigating them effectively. Participants will examine best practices for identifying potential “red flag” clients during intake, avoiding the inadvertent creation of an attorney–client relationship, establishing clear communication boundaries (including texting and informal messaging), and managing difficult client situations that may require withdrawal. The program will also address ethical obligations when concluding representation, including disengagement letters, file management, and retention responsibilities. Blending practical guidance with real-world scenarios, this program helps attorneys ensure their client relationships remain ethical from the moment a client hears, “You’ve got a lawyer,” to the final “So long, partner.”

This CLE is free for Modest Means panelists and discounted for Full Fee LRS panelists. To join either panel, contact [email protected]; new panelists may join at any time.

Afterward, all in-person attendees are invited to a reception in the NHBA's Member Center offering delicious barbeque and great networking.
