The NHBA’s Civics & Law Outreach Program has had a busy and inspiring summer advancing civic education across New Hampshire.

In July, we welcomed Street Law, Inc. leaders Lee Arbetman and Cathy Ruffing to the Bar for two days of learning centered on the United States Supreme Court and effective Lawyer‑Teacher partnerships. Attorneys Theodore Lothstein, Sam Gonyea, and John Greabe coached teachers through a moot court simulation of Wolford v. Lopez, offering a hands‑on look at US Supreme Court advocacy and judicial reasoning.

In early August, scholars, lawyers, and teachers gathered at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Lebanon for a We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution professional development workshop. Teachers enjoyed presentations from Lester Brooks and Francene Engel, PhD, along with mentor teachers Dave Alcox, Thomas Lundstedt, and Jenn Tifft. Attorneys R. James Steiner and Keri O’Shea presided over three simulated hearings, giving participants a practical experience with constitutional inquiry.
