The latest issue of Heddlecraft is out! The featured topic for issue #38 is Combining Weaves in the Warp for Wow! This issue’s article and samples are by guest author, Daryl Lancaster.
This issue, Combining Weaves in the Warp for Wow!, is an introduction to combining different weaves into the same cloth. Daryl outlines her design and warping process to help inspire others to combine different weaves together for spectacular results. She even includes her list of top tips and tidbits for combining weaves together.
In this issue, The Loom Where It Happened leverages Daryl’s article and shows how comparing and contrasting historical draft notation with modern drafting designs can unlock mysteries!
Shelf Awareness reviews two new books.
Finally, this issue’s Tip ‘n Technique is an effective (albeit, inelegant) solution for re-tensioning an uneven warp.
If you don't subscribe, you might want to. Robyn Spady presents a labor of love with each edition!

“Most simply, it's a collection about uplifting Black womanhood in our joy and our resilience. The title, u.n.i.t.y., is essentially that. It's the coming together of a sisterhood. The works are hung a little higher than what is conventional. I want the viewers to be looking up into these women's eyes, into these ancestors' eyes, rather than confronting them at eye level. I just want that respect and that acknowledgment of Black lives.” - Simone Elizabeth Saunders

Thank you to CBC Arts and Leah Collins for this wonderful interview with artist Simone Elizabeth Saunders.

‘Simone Elizabeth Sauders: u.n.i.t.y.’ is running in our second-floor gallery until January 29, 2023.
