AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program - AVAP

AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program - AVAP Since the program began, the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program has assisted over 45,000 victims of domestic and sexual violence and stalking.

The AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program (AVAP) is a multi-agency collaboration designed to address critical service needs in our communities and justice systems by ensuring services and education are available to victims of domestic and sexual violence and stalking throughout New Hampshire, and promoting community service and a lifetime commitment to volunteerism. Members of the AmeriCorps Victim

Assistance Program are placed throughout New Hampshire at crisis centers, police departments, prosecutor offices, the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, the New Hampshire Attorney General's office, child advocacy centers, and on college and university campuses to offer support and information to victims of domestic and sexual violence and stalking.

As the month of August comes to an end, so does our 2022-23 service year. Five AVAP members will successfully complete the program. We wish you the best of luck and are excited to see what the future holds for this wonderful group of AVAPs!

Congratulations, Ari! We're excited to recognize Ari on her recent graduation from Saint Anselm College. Ari earned her Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice and hopes to continue her education, obtain her law degree, and, maybe one day, work for the FBI.

Ari is pictured below with her grandfather, who she said has been "her rock" throughout her educational journey.

AVAP members are trained and supported throughout their service year on financial literacy and economic empowerment services available to survivors. At our February AVAP team meeting, we welcomed Kim Pentico, Director of Economic Justice Programming at NNEDV, who provided an in-depth overview of the Allstate Moving Ahead Financial Empowerment Curriculum. The training was a deep dive into the curriculum and provided the necessary facilitation skills to support advocates who offer financial empowerment programming at their host sites.
