Great message from our friends at the Ohio State Fire Marshal office.

Charge any lithium-ion battery device on a hard surface—never on your bed, couch, or under a pillow. And don’t overcharge. Once it’s at 100%, unplug and move on.

🐭🔥 Boots is stretching and getting ready for Fire Safety Month!

At the Central Ohio Fire Museum and Learning Center, we teach fire safety every day, but October is when we work extra hard to spread the message! 🧯🚒

Get Ready! 🏠🔥 Develop and practice your home fire escape plan with everyone in your household. Have working smoke detectors, Sleep with your bedroom door shut, Know two ways out of every room, and choose a meeting place outside in front of your home so the firefighters will see you when they get there.

Boots is ready. Are you? 🐭❤️

It was a beautiful October day as we gathered for the annual Columbus Firefighters Memorial. 🍁❤️

The Museum was honored to host our annual open house and remember the CFD members whose names were called as the Bell was tolled today. We also unveiled the newest bricks added to our Memorial Brick Front Ramp, each one representing a life, a legacy, and a family who will never forget.

We are so grateful for all who choose this profession and dedicate their lives to protecting our community. It is our privilege to play a small part in honoring them today and always.

Thank you to our firefighters, past and present, and to the families who stand beside them. 🚒❤️

Thank you so much to the Columbus Division of Fire for capturing the essence of our Columbus Remembers: A Community Gathers event.

Unfortunately, we were not equipped to record or livestream this ticketed event- but will keep that in mind when planning future events.

We wish we could have shared the evening with everyone who wanted to be there. The interest means so much to us, and we hope to create more opportunities in the future to share these important stories and memories with our community.

As we toll the bell this morning, let us never forget the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice that day and those whom we continue to lose today due to related illnesses. There is and will always be evil in the word.

🚒 MEET OUR PANELIST: MARK DEVINE

We are honored to welcome Mark Devine as a panelist for Columbus Remembers: A Community Gathers on September 10.

A retired Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief with more than 38 years of service, Mark brings a wealth of experience in fire suppression, emergency response, fire investigation, fire prevention, and public safety.

Throughout his career, Mark served as Captain of the Arson Bureau, Fire Marshal for the City of Columbus, and Battalion Chief. For 20 years, he served in Battalion 3, the city’s busiest battalion, providing frontline command and incident management across Engines, Ladders, Rescues, and Squads.

His decades of leadership and firsthand experience offer an important perspective as we reflect on how September 11 changed the fire service, emergency response, and public safety forever.
