Your sponsorship dollars will support the work of Justice 360. At Justice 360, our clients are indigent and incarcerated. While the courts generally pay us for our direct representation work, that funding provides only a portion of what we need in order to accomplish our goals. We depend on private contributions for our consulting, resource development, publication, policy reform advocacy, and public education work. We receive no state or federal appropriations. Justice 360 Founder John Blume and Executive Director Allison Franz represented Tyrone Aiken today at his resentencing hearing. Tyrone's sentence was reduced from life without parole to 30 years, and he is expected to be released by May 2027. Tyrone's resentencing judge praised all the work he has done to turn his life around during his incarceration.

Tyrone was resentenced under Aiken v. Byars, which held that sentencing juveniles to life without parole violated the Eighth Amendment, consistent with the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark decision in Miller v. Alabama.

Justice 360 was awarded a grant from the South Carolina Bar Foundation to continue our important work representing juveniles facing harsh sentences. We are so grateful for their support and commitment to being a force for good.

Last week our attorneys attended the Persuasion Institute at Cornell Law School. The Persuasion Institute joins attorneys, professional writers, and legal and literary academics together to develop persuasive advocacy techniques to help better serve our clients.
