Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day. In the U.S. 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 6 aged 6-17 experience mental illness each year.
This year's campaign focuses on "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change." People with lived experiences (PWLE) often have the most crucial insight and vital perspective regarding mental illness.

Meaningful engagement extends beyond simply being heard.
It means creating opportunities for people to influence decisions, co-design services, strengthen peer-led approaches, challenge stigma and strengthen accountability. When PWLE are meaningfully engaged, mental health systems are likely to become more person-centered, rights-based and responsive to people's needs and concerns.
