This is Pride 🌈

For Jim Litton, community at Center on Halsted has meant connection, belonging, and even friendship in unexpected places.

A longtime participant in Pride in Aging programming, Jim says, “Center on Halsted brings us together. It allows us to have a second or even third wind in our lives.”

From tai chi classes to senior lunches, Jim found more than programming. He found a community.

Throughout Pride Month, we’ll be sharing stories from community members like Jim reflecting on what Pride means to them and how Center on Halsted’s programs, services, and community spaces have supported their journeys.

And thanks to supporters Holly King and Kenneth Jaconetty, all new and increased gifts made through June 30 will be matched 1:1 up to $45,000.

Join us next Friday, June 5, from 6:30–8:30pm for the opening of our newest exhibition ✨

On view through July 30, the show features two floors of work:

🧵 Second floor: Q***r Quilting: A Regenerative Practice — a vibrant group exhibition highlighting collaborative quilt-making, creative expression, and community care from q***r artists working with recycled materials.

🎨 Third floor: mixed media paintings and sculptures by Jack McLaughlin, exploring maps, movement, and what it means to find your place in the world.

Come celebrate the opening with us, meet the artists, and experience an evening of art, connection, and reflection 🌈

Thanks to the generosity of supporters Holly King and Kenneth Jaconetty, all new and increased gifts to Center on Halsted throughout Pride Month will be matched up to $45,000. That means every gift goes twice as far in supporting our community.

And this year, we’re asking our community: What does Pride mean to you?

Throughout June, we’ll be sharing stories from community members in their own words what Pride means to them and how Center on Halsted has supported them through programs, services, and community spaces.
