Our annual Thrive luncheon was a celebration of the programs, families and community partnerships that make our work in Central Illinois possible.

We are deeply grateful to Ciera Fancher, who was generous and brave in sharing her personal story. A single mother of four beautiful daughters, she’s turned to our programs – including the Brightpoint Bloomington Crisis Nursery , home visiting, and Scott Child & Family Center – during challenging times in recent years.

In her words: “I will forever be grateful for the light these programs brought into my life during such a dark time.”

We also celebrated the legacy of late board member Dennis M. Fries by naming the gymnasium at the Scott Child & Family Center in his honor.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this special day. If you were not able to join us, but still want to give, please visit https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/donor-form?svcid=renxt&formId=bf16ffe2-3496-4339-bdd0-cafb102a438b&envid=p-ow70qZy3tk2TQiPqsDGJgw&zone=usa

Brightpoint was born three years ago from our proud longtime legacy of Children’s Home & Aid.

Our new name and identity reflected more than a visual change — it marked a renewed commitment to prevention, early support and meeting families where they are.

Today, that mission continues to guide our work as we help children and families access the care, resources and support they need to thrive. We’re grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey with us. 💜

Children and families need support during times of transition, and foster caregivers can help provide that stability. By providing safe and compassionate care, they help children remain connected to support systems while families work toward reunification whenever possible. 💙

There is always a need for caring individuals and families willing to make a difference in a child’s life.

When young people face challenges at home or in their communities, early support can make a lasting difference.

Our Youth Services programs help youth ages 11 to 23 and their families navigate difficult situations, including homelessness, family conflict and other barriers that can impact stability.

Through crisis intervention, family support and community-based services, we help young people remain connected to safe and supportive environments.

Every person who reaches our programs has a story, and every number represents someone who received support and resources when they needed it most.

Through our programs and community partnerships, we continue helping children, youth and families access mental health resources and support close to home. We are grateful to continue this work and support our communities every day through our programs.

“What started with a teddy bear named Tom was carried on by the generous people who showed up for me and my family when we couldn’t find our way alone.”

Our Director of Development, Tyler Lewis, shares a deeply personal story about resilience, compassion and the people who helped shape his life after entering foster care at age 5.

As we observe National Foster Care Month, read Tyler’s powerful reflection on foster care, healing and hope. https://www.brightpoint.org/beacon/one-bear-15-homes-a-boys-journey-through-foster-care/

Happy Birthday to Head Start! Since 1965, Head Start has helped children and families build strong foundations through early education, health services and family support. Its preventative approach connects families with the resources they need to thrive and helps ensure children are ready to learn, grow and succeed.

We are proud to provide Head Start center-based and home-based/home visiting services at all our Child and Family Centers across the state and to continue supporting children and families in our communities every day.

We recently joined advocates, partners and community leaders in Springfield for Early Childhood Advocacy Day.

Throughout the day our team engaged with state senators and representatives on the importance of investing in quality child care and family support services. We shared the critical needs facing families and highlighted the importance of policies that strengthen access to early childhood resources and support systems.

We’re proud to continue advocating for solutions that help children and families thrive across Illinois and grateful to the senators and representatives who took time to meet with us and discuss these important conversations: State Representative Amy Elik, State Senator Christopher Belt, State Rep. Nabeela Syed, State Representative Sonya Harper and Senator Erica Harriss.

We had a great time last week joining State Senator Lakesia Collins Mother's Day event, sharing information about our fatherhood programs! Our programs don't just support fathers, but their relationships with their partners, co-parents and children. This relationship building is what keeps families thriving together!
