The Society’s membership, totaling more than 2,000, is primarily comprised of gynecologic oncologists, as well as other related medical specialists including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and pathologists. The BRIGES Research Initiative is a two-year program from SGO and the GOG Foundation designed to support the next generation of gynecologic oncology clinical trial investigators.

Participants gain mentorship and hands-on experience in clinical trial design, biostatistics, grantsmanship, and regulatory processes.

We’re excited to welcome the newest cohort of SGO’s Leadership, Engagement, and Action in Development (LEAD) Program!

LEAD brings together 20 aspiring gynecologic oncologists with SGO member mentors for a year focused on mentorship, professional development, connection and preparing for the path ahead.

Following their September 24 kickoff, mentees will explore topics ranging from research and mentorship to the fellowship match and life as a gynecologic oncologist, culminating in an in-person LEAD Summit.

This program represents an important investment in the next generation of gynecologic oncology. Thank you to this year’s mentors, speakers and LEAD Steering Committee for sharing their time, expertise and support.

Where are the gaps in ovarian cancer care? Your clinical experience can help identify them.

The Lancet Ovarian Cancer Commission is conducting a physician survey to document how ovarian cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and supportive care are delivered across different health systems, and where the largest gaps in access lie.

The Commission brings together international clinical and scientific experts and patient advocates to review evidence, identify opportunities for progress and develop recommendations that advance equitable care.

SGO members Joyce Liu, MD, MPH; Don Dizon, MD, FACP, FASCO; and Kathleen Moore, MD, MS, are helping lead this important effort.

The survey takes less than 40 minutes, is available in English, and responses are anonymous and confidential.

The SGO-UCI Advanced Course in Cytoreductive Surgery for Gynecologic Peritoneal Surface Malignancies returns May 13-15, 2027, in Huntington Beach, CA.

This three-day course combines expert lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on cadaver lab experience focused on advanced cytoreductive surgery techniques for ovarian cancer and related gynecologic malignancies.
