ASCP The ASCP unites more than 100K anatomic & clinical pathologists, medical laboratory professionals, residents, and medical students.

Over the years, ASCP's education programs and the ASCP Board of Certification certification programs have provided the foundation for excellence in the profession. In addition, the society's foresight and influence in creating the American Board of Pathology, the College of American Pathologists, and the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences established the structure to ensu

re the long-term strength and viability of pathology and laboratory medicine. ASCP is the world's largest society of pathologists and laboratory professionals comprising pathologists, doctoral-level laboratory scientists, and a host of laboratory professionals, including pathologists' assistants, medical laboratory scientists, cytotechnologists, histotechnologists, histologic technicians, phlebotomists, medical laboratory technicians, and numerous laboratory specialists. In order to foster healthy discussions in our Facebook community, we have a few group rules to keep the atmosphere positive and professional.

-Strong language and offensive remarks are prohibited. Users may be warned, or potentially banned without warning, at the administrators' discretion.

-In an effort to reduce "spam" in this online community, admins will approve posts to the discussion and job walls before they are published. Please contact us at [email protected] if your message is not posted in a timely fashion, and a member of the webteam will resolve this issue.

-Recruiters: As of Feb 2013, we are no longer accepting recruiters' requests into the ASCP page, but we would love to promote your jobs through our Career Center. Please contact our Human Resources team at 312.541.4999 for more information.

CMS is reviewing whether surgical pathology codes are misvalued under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. The concern is based on claims data that may not reflect how pathology actually works and could lead to cuts in physician time and work RVUs for CY 2027. Pathologists know this work best. Tell CMS to keep any changes to the established review process, not a shortcut.

Preanalytical work is where laboratory testing truly begins, and where most errors occur. Yet many errors happen not because someone didn't know the process, but because they didn't feel comfortable speaking up, asking for clarification, or stopping the workflow.

On September 24 at 1 pm, join this virtual roundtable to find out how psychological safety and interpersonal skills directly impact preanalytical accuracy, and how creating a culture where concerns are voiced early can prevent errors before they reach the bench, or the patient. This event is for ASCP Members only, login to register now: https://bit.ly/4hJeKlw
