For SWE member Shravya Boini, a love of problem-solving led her to a career in software engineering, where she's now helping shape how AI is used in everyday work.

As a senior engineer at Target, Shravya develops AI systems that support store team members while also mentoring interns and helping newer engineers find their footing.

Every girl deserves the freedom to learn, make her own choices and pursue a future she defines for herself.

On International Day of the Girl Child, we recognize the importance of protecting girls' rights and addressing the inequalities that continue to limit their opportunities around the world.

At SWE, we believe that includes ensuring girls have access to STEM education and the support to pursue their interests without barriers or limitations.

Today, we celebrate girls as leaders and changemakers while reaffirming our commitment to creating more opportunities for them to thrive.

After becoming a vice president of engineering twice, Ali Forsyth, Ph.D., began wondering what was next for her career. Her answer ultimately led her to entrepreneurship and co-founding Alloy Enterprises.

Now vice president and general manager of Stack Forging thermal solutions at Johnson Controls, Ali joins FY27 SWE President Kerrie Greenfelder to reflect on what it took to make that leap, the lessons she learned while building her company and the role sponsorship played in opening new doors throughout her career.
