Sakhi for South Asian Survivors has spent years deepening their survivor-led approach, and they're just getting started.

As a two-time awardee through Lever for Change's open calls, Executive Director Kavita Mehra and Director of Programs Pooja Raj reflect on how the Yield Giving and Action for Women's Health awards have shaped their vision and expanded what's possible in the fight to end gender-based violence.

Open calls are how we start. Our funding ecosystem is how we scale. 📈

As of April 2026, Lever for Change has mobilized $2.6 billion in total funding, and 40.6% of that ($1.1 billion) came outside of our open calls entirely.

That's the secondary market at work: funding and partnerships that emerge because of an open call, but extend far beyond it. Top-ranking organizations from our open calls gain validation and funder access. Awardees receive long-term support. And through our global network, vetted organizations stay visible to donors long after an open call closes.

🙏 So grateful Bublitz, Peracchio, Davis, and their team included us in their research.

These two new papers beautifully capture a turning point in philanthropy, and their findings validate what we've long believed about building networks between philanthropic givers and nonprofits: real change happens when we foster connections between givers, doers, and each other. 🤝
