While Lever for Change is best known for moving large-scale philanthropic capital through open calls, nonprofits in our network told us they also needed fast, flexible funding.

When sudden funding cuts disrupted organizations across the country in May 2025, we adapted our Swift Grants process to provide $660,000 in unrestricted gifts to 33 organizations.

One year later, the message is clear: timely, unrestricted funding gave organizations the flexibility to plan ahead, retain staff, and continue serving their communities. It reinforced what we heard from applicants from the start—even $20,000 can be transformational when organizations need it most.

Our team's Staff Development Retreat is Monday, August 24th through Friday, August 28th.

This week is a dedicated time to pause, recharge, and reconnect with the purpose behind our work. We believe that caring for ourselves and one another enables us to show up with greater energy, clarity, and compassion in all that we do.
