After 16 years with AFC and 10 years as Executive Director of AIDS Foundation Chicago's subsidiary, the Center for Housing and Health, Peter Toepfer is departing for a new opportunity. Pete will be the next President & CEO of pivotal homeless sector leadership organization, All Chicago.
Under Pete’s leadership, the Center for Housing and Health has grown to serve over 1,700 Chicagoans with complex health needs through its largest program, the Flexible Housing Pool. In recent years, Pete secured millions in funding from public and private funders, and a recently released impact report tracking outcomes for Flexible Housing Pool participants showed major increases in health and quality of life – and major cost-savings achieved through lessening impacts to public crisis systems like emergency rooms, jails, and 911 calls.
Thank you, Pete, for helping thousands of Chicagoans achieve health and stability through housing, and for demonstrating through your success that housing IS health care. We wish you all the best in your next chapter.
In the interim, CHH will be led by Brandi Calvert, Vice President of Housing Strategy at AFC, a seasoned executive with over 10 years of experience in the health and housing sectors. The Board of Directors, and Board Chair Ed Stellon, will start a search soon for the new, permanent Executive Director of CHH.
