On her birthday, we honor Evelyn Goldberg for the values she instilled and the lives she touched. A woman whose kindness, strength, and love left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

It is her legacy that guides the mission of A Silver Lining Foundation. Her legacy is not only found in the years she lived, but in the lives she touched. Though she may no longer walk beside us, Evelyn’s light remains eternal in every story, laugh, and act of love done in her honor.

Her example keeps guiding our work and community. For those of you who knew her, please share a memory.

The Evelyn Goldberg Mammography Center is named in honor of ASLF Founder Dr. Sandy Goldberg’s mother whose words, “We are all family, and we have to help each other through the hard times,” are at the core of ASLF’s mission. Located at UI Health ASLF’s first hospital partner, the center evolved from an information/resource hub to a warm and welcoming environment where those referred by the BAMAM program are greeted and cared for by trained professionals using the most current equipment and technology.

What an amazing race day!

Perfect weather made for optimal running conditions, and participants truly delivered strong performances at this year’s Mother’s Day Tickled Pink 5K. The event was a tremendous success from start to finish, and Dr. Sandy loved meeting so many new friends and cheering everyone on.

We were honored to join our partners at the Ingalls Development Foundation for the Juell Kadet Promise of Hope Fashion Show Luncheon at the Odyssey in Tinley Park. Proceeds benefit Oncology Programs and Services at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, A Silver Lining partner hospital.

A heartfelt thank‑you to our very own Dr. Sandy Goldberg, who served as an outstanding MC, and to Co‑Founder Greg Hines and Executive Director Wendy Mitchell Gill for attending this inspiring event. The fashions were fabulous, the energy was uplifting, and the mission was powerful.

What an absolute joy it was to celebrate the incomparable Dr. Sandy Goldberg at a beautiful dinner hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, Dr. Robert Barish in recognition of her raising over $1M in support of UIC Health programs and initiatives. Dr. Sandy was truly verklempt at the incredible outpouring of love, respect, and appreciation in the room — a testament to the lives she’s touched and the legacy she continues to build every single day.

We were in wonderful company with key UIHealth leadership and staff, ASLF Executive Board members, including ASLF Co‑Founder (and Dr. Sandy’s partner in life and mission), Greg Hines, and other close friends as we celebrated this acknowledgment. UIHealth’s generosity and heartfelt recognition of Dr. Sandy’s extraordinary impact made the evening unforgettable. Her visionary leadership has opened doors, restored hope, and ensured access to lifesaving breast and general health resources for thousands across Chicago.
Here’s to Dr. Sandy — a force of compassion, courage, and unwavering commitment.
