Sierra Club is proud to support Shape Oak Park, a bold new plan to end single-family only zoning and add environmentally-friendly, gentle housing density near transit.

Read our statement on our blog and join us in urging the Village Board to enact this ambitious new plan to make Oak Park more walkable, bikeable, transit-forward, and affordable.

Before we endorse anyone for Chicago City Council, we ask them to go on the record. Our 2027 questionnaire has 23 questions across 6 pillars:
• Clean air and water, from the Hazel M. Johnson Cumulative Impacts Ordinance to data centers and flooding.
• Waste management, including composting and foam and plastic bag bans.
• Active transportation, meaning safer streets and faster buses.
• YIMBY housing. More homes near transit, and pushing back on the Peoples Gas rate hike.
• Open space and wildlife, from bird-friendly buildings to our lakefront.
• Power of the purse. A millionaire's tax and Fair Elections.

Swipe through for a preview. Read every question at the link in bio.

Endorsements come in three rounds. Early, Full Primary and Run-Off. Follow along so you don't miss them.

Last night we shared the questionnaire that will go to every 2027 candidate for Mayor and City Council, and the priorities behind it: climate, environmental justice, and a city built for walking, biking, and transit.

The 2027 cycle starts now. Candidates answer to us before they ask for our vote.

Thanks to everyone who came out to 70 E. Lake and joined on Zoom.
