🎶 Your flute choir could perform at the next NFA Convention! Community ensembles, collegiate choirs, and everyone in between is invited to apply for the NFA's 2027 Flute Ensemble Festival. Invited ensembles will have the opportunity to perform at the 2027 NFA Convention in Minneapolis (Aug. 5-8).

📢 New in 2027: Ensembles will NOT be required to submit recordings with their proposals. Recordings are only required for ensembles who wish to be considered for a pre-gala concert (Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening) performance slot, for a concert 45 minutes or longer, or for the Mary H. Anderson Collegiate Flute Choir Award.

🏆 ICYMI - Repertoire requirements for the 2027 NFA competitions are published on our website!

🎶 The NFA will host 17 competitions in 2027, including the ALL-NEW Junior Flute Choir competition (for flutists age 11-15). Whether you want to perform as a soloist, join an auditioned flute choir at the convention, or present your original research, there's a competition for you!

🎶 Composers, you still have time to submit a proposal for this commissioning project! We will accept proposals through next Monday, October 12.

The National LGBTQIA+ Flute Choir and the NFA Idea Committee invite composers of all backgrounds to submit proposals for a new large-scale flute choir work premiering at the 2028 (New Orleans) National Flute Association Convention!

We’re seeking bold, imaginative compositions that uplift and explore LGBTQIA+ stories, identities, and experiences through joy, resilience, history, and community. 💜

✨ Commission Fee: $4,500
🎼 Length: 9–12 minutes
📅 Deadline: October 12, 2026

⏳ 2027 NFA Convention proposals are due TONIGHT at 11:59pm CT! If you would like to perform or present at the next convention, you must submit a proposal before the deadline.

We are extending our office hours tonight to assist with proposal submission. If you experience a problem submitting your proposal, please email Mily Montanez at [email protected]. Please do not call the NFA office for proposal assistance; emailing Mily is the fastest way to get help.

Reminder: Applications for the NFA's Emerging Artist Mentorship Program are due October 9!

College students and recent graduates who identify as belonging to a marginalized cultural group are invited to apply for this year-long mentorship program. Participants will receive professional support and guidance from a professionally established mentor. This year's mentors are:

"Currently comprising saxophonist Daniel Berkey, double bassist Peter Seymour, and flutist Greg Pattillo, PROJECT Trio blends classical, jazz, hip-hop, world music, and much, much more to create a sound that draws audiences in with its joyful electricity. A few months ago I attended one of their concerts, and it was such an inspiring experience that I wanted to chat with Pattillo about what it’s like to be in an ensemble like that.
