ISLM 2026 PROJECTS ARE NOW OPEN FOR PARTICIPATION 🌍📚

I am pleased to announce that the International School Library Month (ISLM) 2026 projects are now officially open to schools, school libraries, educators, librarians, and students across the world.

Each October, ISLM brings together the international school library community to celebrate the transformative role of libraries, literacy, reading, creativity, and meaningful connections in the lives of young people.

The 2026 programme offers a diverse range of projects and opportunities designed to encourage students to:

📖 Cultivate a deeper appreciation of reading and literature
🎨 Explore creativity and communicate their ideas in imaginative ways
🌍 Build meaningful connections with peers across cultures and continents
💻 Engage with technology and emerging forms of digital creativity
🤝 Collaborate, exchange ideas, and learn from one another
📚 Experience the school library as a dynamic space for learning, discovery, and connection

Whether your school is participating in an international exchange, creative competition, collaborative reading initiative, digital project, or another ISLM 2026 activity, we warmly invite you to become part of this global celebration.

I encourage school librarians, teachers, and educators to explore the ISLM 2026 projects, review the respective guidelines and participation requirements, and involve your students in the opportunities that resonate with their interests and learning needs.

Every participating school contributes something distinctive to ISLM. A book shared, an idea exchanged, a bookmark created, a story discussed, or a connection established can become a meaningful bridge between young readers around the world.

Let us come together this October to celebrate school libraries not merely as places where books are housed, but as vibrant spaces where curiosity is nurtured, creativity flourishes, cultures connect, and young minds discover the world.

📚🌍 ISLM 2026 | THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER

The International School Library Month (ISLM) community has spoken — and we have heard you.

Over the past few weeks, we have received an overwhelming number of emails and messages from students, schools, teachers and school library communities asking one question:

“When will ISLM 2026 begin?”

We are delighted to announce that the wait is almost over.

ISLM 2026 Projects will open for registration within the next 10 days.
And today, we are pleased to reveal the theme that will bring this year’s global celebration together:

LIBRARIES, LITERACY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
At a time when technology is transforming how we learn, create and share knowledge, ISLM 2026 invites students aged 3–22 years to explore the continuing power of libraries, the joy of reading, the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence, and the importance of imagination and human connection.
